The festival dedicated to the native Friulian grape variety, held outdoors in San Vito al Tagliamento
The Ribolla Gialla Wine Festival is the event that celebrates one of the most representative grape varieties of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Ribolla Gialla, a native grape that was forgotten for decades and is now rediscovered as a symbol of biodiversity and quality. Every year, between late May and the first few days of June, the historic center of San Vito al Tagliamento, in the province of Pordenone, transforms into an open-air festival of tastings, meetings, music, and events.
Organized by the Municipality of San Vito al Tagliamento with the coordination of Cittร del Vino FVG and numerous partners from the food and wine sector, the event grows year by year and will reach its fourth edition in 2026.
The program revolves around the food and wine stalls set up in the historic center, with dozens of events including tastings and pairings. The technical heart of the festival is the Ribolla Gialla Selection, which compares wines from wineries in different categories โ dry still, macerated, Charmat sparkling, and Classic Method โ and concludes with the 'Oro nel calice' award for the winning wineries. There are also themed masterclasses and special pairings, such as those with cave-aged cheeses.
Alongside the wine, the festival offers conferences and in-depth sessions dedicated to viticulture, sustainability, and the promotion of native grape varieties. Among the innovations in recent years is the 'Ribolla in Mix' evening, where Ribolla Gialla is reinvented in cocktail form thanks to the creativity of signature bartenders, in a charming setting like the Corte del Castello.
The event takes place among the squares, loggias, and historic palaces of San Vito al Tagliamento, an elegant town in western Friuli, and coincides with other city festivals like Piazza in Fiore. A perfect opportunity to combine the discovery of wine with the region's artistic heritage and Friulian hospitality.
The 4th edition of the Ribolla Gialla Wine Festival takes place from May 30 to June 2, 2026, transforming the center of San Vito al Tagliamento into an open-air festival dedicated to the native Friulian grape variety. Four days of tastings, music, events, and meetings, coinciding with the 44th edition of Piazza in Fiore.
The official program opens with a conference dedicated to Ribolla Gialla and the rediscovery of native grape varieties, continues with the 'Oro nel calice' award ceremony for the winning wineries of the Selection and pairings with cave-aged cheeses, and concludes on June 2 with the 'Ribolla in Mix' evening at the Corte del Castello.
