The Summer of San Martino in the Square

L'estât di San Martìn (in Friulian, the summer of San Martino) is the feast that the village of San Martino al Tagliamento, in the province of Pordenone, dedicates to its patron saint, San Martino, celebrated on November 11th. The name recalls the proverbial period of autumn warmth that, according to tradition, accompanies this anniversary, and which frames three days of celebration in the heart of the village.

Flavors of Autumn

The feast takes place in Piazza Umberto I, where the stalls are fragrant with the flavors of autumn: the unmissable apple fritters, roasted chestnuts by volunteers, cookies and sweets from the market, local products, and wine. It's the genuine, seasonal cuisine of Friulian tradition, to be enjoyed with friends on the cold November days.

Vintage Motors and Used Books

Among the most characteristic events are the gathering of vintage vehicles and machinery, which attracts enthusiasts and the curious, and the used book market, an opportunity to find rare volumes and interesting items. There are also readings and games for children and the traditional Marcia di San Martino, which combines sport and village festival.

Tradition and Music

Organized by the Pro Loco San Martino al Tagliamento, the event keeps alive the spirit of Friulian patron saint feasts, made of community, tradition, and conviviality. Live music accompanies the days, animating the square and giving the festival that cheerful, popular rhythm that makes it an anticipated event in the autumn calendar of western Friuli.
