When the landscape becomes a concert hall

There is a festival in Friuli Venezia Giulia that for over twenty years has chosen not a theatre but the most beautiful places in the territory as its stage: it is Nei Suoni dei Luoghi, the international music review born in 1999 and organized by APM – Associazione Progetto Musica. Castles, historic villas, churches, palaces, parks, gardens, and wineries are transformed into concert halls, where the beauty of music dialogues with that of architecture and nature.

A stage for young talents

The heart of the project is the promotion of young musicians: every year, a call for entries selects ensembles of under-31s from academies, conservatories, and higher education institutions, both Italian and foreign. The festival offers them a prestigious stage and an attentive audience, ranging across different genres – from chamber music to jazz, from opera arias to ethnic and choral music – under the artistic direction of violinist Valentina Danelon.

A festival that crosses borders

Nei Suoni dei Luoghi is a cross-border project: concerts are held not only in Friuli Venezia Giulia but also in Veneto, Slovenia, Austria, and Croatia, in a network of places that tell the Central European soul of this land. Among the most evocative venues are the wineries and vineyards of the Città del Vino (Towns of Wine), where music is accompanied by the region's wine culture.

With an audience that has approached twenty thousand spectators, Nei Suoni dei Luoghi has established itself as one of the most beloved music festivals in the Northeast. A summer event that invites you to discover Friuli Venezia Giulia through music, moving from concert to concert among villages, castles, and wineries.
