The feast of the sanctuary of Costa di Aviano in September
In Costa di Aviano, where the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Mountain stands, the community gathers every September for one of the most heartfelt religious and popular festivals in the area. The Feast of Our Lady of the Mountain intertwines Marian devotion, deeply rooted in these valleys, with the convivial dimension of a village festival, a typical combination of Friulian tradition.
The event spans four days, with religious celebrations at the sanctuary and a rich program of events. The food stalls offer local specialties daily: mixed grill, cotechino, sausage and cabbage, polenta, and much more, accompanied by the flavors and wines of the region.
Alongside the food and wine, the program offers entertainment for all ages: a Vespa gathering, the traditional charity raffle, group dances, and live music, with bands like I Musicanti di Giais and Lucio e i Robusti animating the evenings. A festival that unites generations and traditions.
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Mountain, nestled in the greenery at the foot of Piancavallo, is a place of great charm, a destination for pilgrimages, and a spiritual reference point for the community of Aviano and Marsure. The September festival is the ideal opportunity to discover it, amidst faith, nature, and authentic flavors.
For 2026, the Feast of Our Lady of the Mountain will return to Costa di Aviano in September, as is tradition. Four days that combine religious celebrations at the Marian sanctuary and the village festival, with food stalls, events, and music.
