(R)esistere sui sgrebeni de Zimon – Summer Solstice

A solstice evening among the heroic terraces

«(R)esistere sui sgrebeni de Zimon» is the summer solstice event organized by the Pro Loco of Cimone, a small village of just over seven hundred inhabitants in the Autonomous Province of Trento, in Trentino-Alto Adige, nestled on the slopes of Mount Bondone overlooking the Adige Valley. The event's name plays on the local Trentino dialect («Zimon» stands for Cimone) and evokes the concept of resistance: that of rural communities continuing to cultivate the village's steep slopes.

The sgrebeni and heroic agriculture

The sgrebeni de Zimon are the steep, terraced lands surrounding the village, where some families still maintain the ancient practice of heroic agriculture: vines and crops carved out of the mountainside thanks to kilometers of dry-stone walls, worked by hand on vertical, mineral-rich terraces. Around the hamlet of Covelo, the heart of the municipality, this landscape tells a story of centuries of hard work and a deep bond with the land.

The evening program

The experience is divided into three moments that guide guests from sunset until late at night:

• Easy walk of about 4 km along the sgrebeni, discovering local farming traditions and the heroic agricultural terraces in a charming landscape;
• Convivial dinner featuring typical Trentino products and local specialties, shared in an authentic and informal atmosphere;
• Stargazing with a telescope, to be enchanted by the celestial vault on the night of the solstice.
