Prosit! Polu Uthar — Rural Memories and Flavors is the food and wine festival that brings the historic center of Pollutri to life every autumn. This small village in the province of Chieti, Abruzzo, is nestled on a gentle hill among vineyards and olive groves in the hinterland of the Costa dei Trabocchi. The event's name plays on the ancient dialectal name of the town and the toast "Prosit," a perfect synthesis of a convivial spirit rooted in the local rural culture.
For one evening, the village alleys turn into a widespread theater of tastings, aromas, and conviviality. Along the route, visitors can sample local wines, particularly from regional wineries, alongside rustic dishes prepared according to ancient Abruzzese recipes, traditional desserts, and local products. Live music, craftsmanship, and recreational activities accompany visitors through the illuminated streets of the historic center, recreating the warm and genuine atmosphere of traditional village festivals.
The event is organized by the Municipal Administration of Pollutri together with the Municipal Youth Council, with the patronage of the Regional Council of Abruzzo and the collaboration of local entities such as the Città del Vino and Colline dei Trabocchi associations. The involvement of the town's youth is one of the event's hallmarks: they are the ones rediscovering and passing down the recipes and crafts of previous generations, in a dialogue between past and present that strengthens the bond with their roots.
In recent years, the event has expanded its offerings with proposals designed to ensure everyone can participate in the feast, including options for celiac guests created in collaboration with trade associations. A free shuttle service, operating from the sports field to the center, also facilitates access to the village and the festival.
Still partially enclosed by ancient medieval walls, Pollutri is a village of just over two thousand inhabitants known for its grape production and folk traditions. Visiting Prosit! Polu Uthar means discovering not just a food and wine event, but an entire town that tells its story through its flavors, history, and hospitality in the authentic heart of the Adriatic Abruzzo.
The food and wine festival Prosit! Polu Uthar is expected to return in 2026, maintaining its usual autumn slot in the historic center of Pollutri. As of now, the official dates and the program for the 2026 edition have not yet been released. The format traditionally includes tastings of local wines, rustic Abruzzese dishes, live music, and crafts along the village alleys. For updated information, please refer to the official channels of the Municipality of Pollutri.
The event is held in the historic center of Pollutri (CH), in Abruzzo. The village is pedestrianized during the event.
