Christmas in the Village is the most anticipated Christmas event in Monteodorisio, a small town of just over two thousand inhabitants perched in the Vasto hinterland, in the province of Chieti, in southern Abruzzo. Every December, the town's historic center transforms into an open-air village, where lights, music, and aromas accompany residents and visitors along the village streets. The initiative is part of the broader Borgo in Festa program, a series of events organized by the Municipality together with local associations to bring the holiday season to life.

Markets, crafts, and gift ideas

The heart of the event is the Christmas markets: in the documented edition, over thirty stalls were set up across the squares and streets of the center, dedicated to handicrafts, local products, and original gift ideas. Strolling among the festive stalls is the perfect opportunity to discover the work of Abruzzese artisans and get swept up in the village's Christmas atmosphere.

Shows, music, and taste

The Christmas in the Village program combines entertainment and gastronomy for audiences of all ages. Recent editions have featured a Frozen musical for children, street bands accompanying the public along a rich food and wine trail featuring local specialties, and the most scenic moments of the day, such as the lighting of the Christmas tree and the arrival of Santa Claus, eagerly awaited by children for the traditional photo and letter delivery.

Beyond the program, Christmas in the Village is above all a moment of community gathering for the people of Monteodorisio.
