The Bionda & Weiss Beer Festival is one of the most deeply rooted traditions of the summer in Casalbordino, a town in the province of Chieti overlooking the Adriatic coast of Abruzzo. Every year, at the end of August, the green area in the Madonna dei Miracoli district transforms into a vibrant meeting point for three consecutive nights dedicated to beer, great food, and live music.

A community tradition

Now in its seventeenth year, the event has grown alongside generations of locals while keeping its original spirit intact: a celebration of friendship and togetherness. It is more than just a food festival; it is a gathering place for the town and for the many visitors who travel from the coast and the hinterland to reach the Madonna dei Miracoli area. Proceeds from the traditional festival raffle support the activities of the Pro Loco of Casalbordino, the volunteer organization behind the entire event.

The star beers

The heart of the festival is, of course, the draft beer, served in abundance throughout the evenings:

• Krombacher Hell, a German lager with a light and aromatic profile;
• Wieze Blanche, a Belgian wheat beer with delicate, fruity notes;
• Krombacher Keller, an unfiltered beer with a bolder character.

To accompany your pint, there is plenty of food: stalls serving grilled specialties, sandwiches, fried treats, and traditional Abruzzese dishes.

Live music every night

Each evening features concerts and live performances, ranging from emerging local bands and tribute acts dedicated to the biggest names in Italian and international music to DJ sets and dance troupes. The program spans from Italian pop-rock to ballroom dancing, group dances, and revival-style parties, ensuring entertainment for all ages. Admission to the festival area is free, with activities starting in the late afternoon.

Nestled among the hills and just a few kilometers from the beaches of Casalbordino Lido, the Beer Festival is a highlight of the summer on the Trabocchi Coast.
