Wine Nights is a special evening that the Municipality of Paglieta, in the province of Chieti, dedicates to wine culture and the food and wine excellence of the Abruzzo region. The event brings the village's historic center to life, turning it into a trail of flavors, encounters, and entertainment under the starry Abruzzo summer sky, winding through the streets and squares of the town overlooking the Sangro River valley.
The event offers a sensory itinerary featuring guided tastings of local wines, pairings with typical local products, and a thematic conference on wine with industry experts. Alongside the wine glasses, there are introductory wine workshops curated in collaboration with AIS Abruzzo, creating an experience that combines the pleasure of tasting with knowledge of the area's winemaking traditions. The stars of the evening are the local wineries, showcasing the quality and authenticity of Abruzzo's oenological production.
The Wine Nights in Paglieta are part of the national circuit promoted by the National Association of Wine Cities, the largest and most widespread Italian summer festival dedicated to wine. Between June and September, it enlivens hundreds of villages across the peninsula with various events. In Abruzzo, the initiative involves several municipalities in the province of Chieti and beyond, creating a network that highlights the oenological vocation of one of Italy's regions richest in native grape varieties, from Montepulciano d'Abruzzo to Trebbiano, Pecorino, and Passerina.
The evening weaves together the food and wine experience with live music, featuring performances ranging from folk sounds to blues and jazz. This formula makes the event not just a showcase for local production, but also an opportunity for meeting and rediscovering the local identity, where wine becomes a symbol of community and belonging. The tastings are accompanied by surprises designed to make the experience even more engaging for the public.
Wine Nights is part of the summer calendar of the Municipality of Paglieta, a village in the province of Chieti located between the Trabocchi Coast and the hills of the Sangro Valley. The setting of the historic center, combined with the proximity to the Adriatic coast and the wine-producing villages of the Chieti area, makes the evening a perfect opportunity to discover one of the most authentic corners of Abruzzo.
The dates for the 2026 edition of the Wine Nights in Paglieta have not yet been officially announced. The event, promoted by the Municipality of Paglieta as part of the national circuit of the 'Città del Vino' Association, was held in August 2025 and is expected to return in 2026 with tastings, wine culture, and live music in the historic center. The official circuit calendar is updated progressively throughout the summer: to find out dates and the program, it is recommended to follow the channels of the Municipality of Paglieta and the Pro Loco.
