About Plauser Genussfest'l

The Plauser Genussfest'l is a vibrant celebration of flavor that transforms the center of Plaus, in the Vinschgau Valley, into a culinary paradise every summer. This day-long event showcases South Tyrolean specialties, farm-to-table products from the local farmers' market, traditional crafts, and live music. Featuring hearty local cuisine, sensory paths, and family entertainment, the festival celebrates the gastronomic culture of this small municipality in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige.

The Plaus Taste Festival

The Plauser Genussfest'l, or Plaus Taste Festival, is one of the most authentic culinary events in the lower Vinschgau Valley. Established in 2022, the event takes place in the village center (Dorfzentrum) of Plaus, a small municipality in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano/Bozen, in Trentino-Alto Adige. For an entire day, the streets and the village square come alive with flavors, aromas, music, and community spirit, drawing visitors from across the South Tyrol/Südtirol region.

A South Tyrolean culinary paradise

The heart of the festival is the hot food stalls serving the finest South Tyrolean specialties along the village route. Alongside the food stands, you will find the farmers' market, where local producers offer high-quality traditional goods and rural handicrafts. A highlight is the famous apple strudel parade, a symbol of South Tyrolean pastry tradition, as well as the taste and sensory path featuring the (Un)sicht Bar, where visitors can eat and drink in total darkness, relying solely on their other senses.

Live music and village atmosphere

The soundtrack for the day is provided by local folk and dance bands, performing throughout the afternoon and evening on the stage set up in the village center. The atmosphere remains convivial and familiar, typical of South Tyrolean village festivals: a perfect occasion to laugh, eat, drink, relax, and discover the creative crafts of the region.

For the whole family

  • Hot cuisine with South Tyrolean specialties served all day
  • Farmers' market with traditional products and local crafts
  • Apple strudel parade in the afternoon
  • Sensory path (Un)sicht Bar and blind tastings
  • Children's entertainment and family activities
  • Live music featuring traditional folk bands

A sustainable event

Organized by the Bildungsausschuss Plaus (Education Committee) in collaboration with the Naturno Tourist Cooperative, the Plauser Genussfest'l places a strong emphasis on sustainability: the village center location is easily accessible by train and bicycle via the Vinschgau Valley cycle path. This choice perfectly aligns with the authentic and local spirit of this celebration of taste.
