The summer festival in Cascine di Buti featuring paella, sangria, and Tuscan flavors
The Paella and Sangria Festival is one of the most anticipated gastronomic events of the summer in Cascine di Buti, a village in the municipality of Buti, in the province of Pisa. Organized by the Contrada San Francesco, the event takes place at the local sports field and uniquely blends traditional Spanish flavors with Tuscan cuisine, creating a festive atmosphere that attracts many visitors from neighboring towns and the Valdera region every year.
The signature dish is, of course, the paella, prepared in large open-air pans and accompanied by the essential sangria. Alongside these Iberian specialties, the festival offers a rich selection of local dishes, catering to those craving seafood and grilled meats:
The food stalls open every evening at 6:00 PM, allowing guests to dine outdoors in the cool evening airโa hallmark of the summer festivals in Buti.
The Paella and Sangria Festival is about more than just great food: every evening features a lively after-dinner program with karaoke, live cover bands, dance parties, and DJ sets. It follows the classic format of Tuscan district festivals, where dining gives way to music and dancing until late, all within a friendly, community-focused setting.
This festival is part of a busy calendar of summer events that animate Buti and Cascine di Buti from June to September, with various local districts and associations taking turns managing the stalls: from the Cockerel Festival to the Stringozzo Festival, and from the Frog Festival to the Porcini Mushroom Festival. The Paella and Sangria event is one of the most festive, bringing a Mediterranean and international touch to the heart of the Pisan countryside, at the foot of the Monte Pisano.
For those visiting Tuscany in the summer, the Paella and Sangria Festival is the perfect opportunity to experience authentic local conviviality: hearty food at affordable prices, free entry, ample parking, and an evening of open-air music. A little trip to Spain without ever leaving the province of Pisa.
The 2026 edition is held over two consecutive weekends: July 10-11-12 and July 17-18-19, 2026, at the Campo Sportivo of Cascine di Buti (PI). Stalls open every evening from 6:00 PM.
