The food, wine, and cultural festival in Pacentro, blending wine, nature, and cross-cultural encounters
PaCentro del Mondo is a food, wine, and cultural festival held in Pacentro, one of Italy's most beautiful villages, perched at the foot of Mount Morrone in the province of L'Aquila, in the heart of Abruzzo. The event, conceived in 2018 by Claudia Galterio and supported by the Ruglio association, takes place in the former Convent of the Minori Osservanti and other historic town center venues within the Majella National Park.
The festival's name plays on the idea of Pacentro as a small center capable of opening up to the world: the event was created to showcase the Peligna Valley through authentic experiences and international collaborations. At the heart of every edition is the collective wine tasting featuring small Italian and French wineries, accompanied by gourmet dinners, meetings with producers, and moments of sharing that unite Abruzzese tradition with global perspectives.
PaCentro del Mondo stands out for its philosophy of environmental sustainability: producers who work without chemical additives are selected, favoring artisanal wines and local products. The festival is not just about food, but also outdoor experiences, with guided excursions on the Majella, shepherd's breakfasts at high altitude, urban trekking through the village alleys, and activities like the zipline that flies over the valley.
Each edition hosts chefs and wineries that bridge East and West, Italy and France, without ever losing the bond with the Peligna identity. Dinners, traditional breakfasts in historic local spots, and convivial lunches become opportunities to discover the typical products of the Municipality of Pacentro and the entire Majella area in an intimate, family atmosphere.
For those looking for an event that combines quality food and wine, pristine nature, and culture, PaCentro del Mondo is a precious summer appointment in the Abruzzo festival calendar.
The 2026 edition of PaCentro del Mondo will be held from July 24 to 26 in Pacentro (AQ), between the former Convent of the Minori Osservanti and the historic center spaces. Three days combining wine, nature, and haute cuisine in the setting of the Majella National Park.
The festival confirms itself as an immersive journey through flavors and territory, with experiences designed to tell the story of the Peligna Valley through international collaborations.
Pacentro (AQ) can be reached by car from the Sulmona motorway exit (A25), just a few kilometers from the village. The reference railway station is Sulmona, well-connected to Rome and Pescara; from there, you can continue by car or local transport.
Individual events (tastings, dinners, excursions) have specific costs and in many cases require mandatory booking due to limited capacity. For information and reservations, you can email [email protected].
Comfortable shoes are recommended for excursions on the Majella and urban trekking through the historic center's alleys. During the summer months, it is advisable to book accommodation in Pacentro or nearby Sulmona in advance.
