A festival of taste in the heart of Scanno

Deguscanno is the autumn event that celebrates Abruzzo's food and wine every year in early November in the charming village of Scanno, nestled in the mountains of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, in the province of L'Aquila. Established in 2017, the festival combines taste, folklore, and nature discovery into a unique three-day event, drawing thousands of visitors to wander through the alleys and stairways of one of Italy's most beautiful villages.

Food and wine trails and cooking classes

The heart of the event is the tasting trail that winds through the cellars, the entrances of historic palaces, and the shops of the town center. Visitors can sample local products paired with Abruzzo wines, from mountain cheeses and cured meats to honey, chocolate, sparkling wines, and ancient traditional Scanno dishes. Each edition features cooking classes with national and international chefs, themed menus, and culinary workshops where participants learn to prepare dishes to take home.

Nature, the village, and the Glorie di San Martino

Deguscanno is more than just food: the program includes guided trekking and excursions through the autumn landscapes around Scanno and its famous heart-shaped lake, as well as historical tours of the village, including churches, monuments, and ancient artisan shops. The event coincides with the Glorie di San Martino, the ancient fire ritual held on November 10th, when massive piles of wood and branches gathered in the mountains are lit at sunset, illuminating the districts and renewing a centuries-old community tradition.

Set against a backdrop of traditional costumes, Scanno's renowned goldsmithing, and the festive, convivial atmosphere of the town, Deguscanno has become a benchmark for regional food and wine tourism. It captures the identity of Scanno and all of Abruzzo through its flavors, scents, and hospitality. Live music in lounge bars and squares accompanies the days, making the festival an immersive experience of culture, entertainment, and gastronomy.
