The summer festival of Torre de' Passeri, featuring squares, music, theatre, and sports
Torrestate is the summer festival promoted by the Municipal Administration of Torre de' Passeri, a town in the Pescara Valley in the province of Pescara, in the heart of Abruzzo. Every year, from late June until September, the village transforms into a large open-air stage: dozens of evenings fill the squares and streets of the center with music, theatre, dance, sports, cinema, and gastronomy. It is one of the richest summer festivals in the area, capable of offering an event almost every evening for over three months.
The strength of Torrestate lies in its variety: the program alternates concerts under the stars, dance performances, comedy nights like the highly popular Corrida (the show that brings local amateur talents to the stage), open-air film festivals, sports tournaments, events for children, and charity moments. Ample space is dedicated to sports, with the summer Torriadi tournaments, men's and women's football matches at the Stadio Volpe, padel, futsal, and basketball. There is no shortage of food festivals and tastings of typical Abruzzo products, which accompany the cultural programming.
The heart of the event is Piazza Plebiscito, which hosts the major evening appointments, flanked by other city spaces such as Parco dei Giusti, Parco Enzo Biagi, the Stadio Volpe, and the streets of the center like via Garibaldi, the setting for the traditional White Night. The programming also intertwines with the religious and civil celebrations of the town, including the patronal feast of Sant'Antonino, which ideally closes the season in early September with processions and popular festivities.
Torrestate is organized directly by the Municipality of Torre de' Passeri with the coordination of the Department of Culture, in collaboration with the numerous local associations. The festival is designed as an opportunity for gathering for citizens and an attraction for visitors from neighboring towns, with most events offering free admission. In recent editions, the program has also hosted personalities from the entertainment world, bringing well-known names of Italian cinema and television to the small Abruzzo village.
The summer festival of the Municipality of Torre de' Passeri returned in 2026, starting on June 27 with a program that extends throughout the summer. In July, Piazza Plebiscito hosted the dance show "The show must go on" (July 3) and the new edition of the Corrida, the show dedicated to amateur talents. On the sports front, the Stadio Volpe welcomed the men's and women's football tournament (July 10-12), while the Parco dei Giusti offered entertainment for children with Disney characters. The festival, promoted by the Municipal Administration, continues throughout the summer months with concerts, shows, cinema, and sports appointments.
The complete program continues throughout the summer and is updated on the channels of the Municipality of Torre de' Passeri.
The events take place in the center of Torre de' Passeri (PE), especially in Piazza Plebiscito, as well as at Parco dei Giusti, Parco Enzo Biagi, the Stadio Volpe, and along via Garibaldi.
By car: take the Torre de' Passeri-Casauria exit on the A25 Rome-Pescara motorway, just a few minutes from the center. By train: the Torre de' Passeri station is on the Rome-Sulmona-Pescara line.
Most events offer free admission. For information: Municipality of Torre de' Passeri, Piazza 6 Aprile 2009, tel. +39 085 8884321.
