Three days dedicated to Orcia DOC wine in the heart of the Val d'Orcia
The Orcia Wine Festival is the food and wine event that celebrates Orcia DOC wine every year at the end of April in the village of San Quirico d'Orcia, in the province of Siena. Located in the heart of the Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the town center transforms for three days into a sprawling showcase of viticultural excellence from a territory spanning twelve municipalities south of Siena, where the Orcia denomination was born in February 2000.
The festival's heart beats at Palazzo Chigi Zondadari, one of the most beautiful and iconic landmarks in San Quirico d'Orcia, which hosts winery tasting stands, technical tastings, and meetings with producers. The event kicks off in Bagno Vignoni, a hamlet famous for its Renaissance thermal pool: the wine weekend begins in the evocative 'square of water' and the Loggia di Santa Caterina, offering a setting unique to Tuscany.
The program offers a comprehensive journey into the world of Orcia wine: in addition to the tasting stands of the Consortium's wineries, the schedule includes masterclasses led by qualified sommeliers, technical tastings curated by ONAV and AIS, and wine tours on foot or by e-bike through the vineyards of the Val d'Orcia. The event also features dinners in the Palazzo's halls with local restaurateurs, children's workshops, trekking excursions, and live concerts by Orcia Wine Music.
The Orcia DOC denomination comprises about sixty producers, with over thirty united under the Protection Consortium, for an annual production of approximately 250,000 bottles across 153 hectares of registered vineyards. During the festival, San Quirico d'Orcia also opens its cultural sites, offering free admission to the Museo del Barbarossa, the 'Forme nel Verde' exhibition, and displays dedicated to Sienese ceramics. The Orcia Wine Festival is much more than a wine show: it is an opportunity to experience one of Tuscany's most beloved landscapes, blending villages, thermal baths, art, and fine wine.
The 15th edition of the Orcia Wine Festival brought San Quirico d'Orcia to life from April 24 to 26, 2026. The inauguration was held on Friday, April 24, at 4:30 PM in Bagno Vignoni, around the historic thermal pool, before moving to Palazzo Chigi Zondadari, the venue for the tasting stands and technical tastings of Orcia DOC.
The program featured a masterclass led by Ilaria Lorini, Best Sommelier AIS Tuscany 2024, two guided tastings by ONAV, wine tours through the vineyards, dinner with local restaurateurs at the Palazzo, children's workshops, excursions, and concerts by Orcia Wine Music. Free admission to the village museums was confirmed.
