Grand classical music amidst the hills of the Val d'Orcia
Tuscan Musical Landscapes is one of Tuscany's most enchanting classical music festivals. Founded in 2014 in San Quirico d'Orcia, in the province of Siena, it was born from the vision of a group of enthusiasts. The festival has chosen the UNESCO World Heritage landscape of the Val d'Orcia as its backdrop, where grand music engages in a dialogue with the medieval villages, cypress trees, and rolling hills that have made this corner of Tuscany world-famous.
What began as a summer festival concentrated in August has evolved, starting in 2025, into a true annual concert season spanning from spring to December. Concerts are held in remarkably evocative locations within the municipality of San Quirico d'Orcia and its surroundings: the Horti Leonini, a 16th-century Italian garden; the Collegiate Church; the Nilde Iotti Gardens; the Vitaleta Chapel; the thermal village of Bagno Vignoni; and the Palazzo Chigi Teatrino.
Every year, the festival hosts internationally renowned soloists, ensembles, and orchestras, alternating between great chamber repertoire, Baroque music, opera, and sacred music. Recent editions have featured the Orchestra della Toscana (ORT), groups from numerous European and international countries, and projects dedicated to Mozart and the Baroque era. The artistic direction is entrusted to Eleonora Contucci, a conservatory professor and a key figure in the classical music scene of the Siena region.
One of the hallmarks of Tuscan Musical Landscapes is its deep connection to the land: concerts are often accompanied by tastings of wines and traditional Tuscan food products, particularly those from the Val d'Orcia. Listening to music thus becomes a complete experience, uniting art, landscape, and flavor in a single day.
Attending Tuscan Musical Landscapes means discovering the most authentic side of Tuscany through music, in one of Italy's most beloved regions.
The 13th edition of Tuscan Musical Landscapes confirms the annual concert season format, with events distributed from April to December 2026. The main concerts are concentrated between May 16 and December 21, with notable dates in July, August, September, and October.
