I Giorni di Bacco is one of the most cherished food and wine events in Castiglion Fiorentino, in the province of Arezzo, in the heart of the Tuscan Valdichiana. For two weekends in September, the Public Gardens of Piazza Matteotti come alive with taverns, tasting stalls, and the aromas of traditional cuisine in a grand celebration dedicated to wine and local flavors. The event, promoted by the Terziere di Porta Fiorentina, one of the town's historic districts, has become a classic of the Tuscan autumn.

The stars of the show: local wines

The heart of the event is wine. Throughout the evenings, you can sample labels from wineries in the Valdichiana and surrounding areas, from Montepulciano to Montalcino, and even the Chianti region and the hills of Montecucco. Alongside world-renowned excellence, there is also space for productions by small local winemakers, showcased through guided tastings and masterclasses led by experts and sommeliers. In some editions, the new wine (vino novello), a symbol of the first days of autumn, is also featured.

Taverns, flavors, and conviviality

The popular soul of the festival thrives in the taverns set up within the gardens, offering table service and Tuscan dishes: bruschetta, cured meats, cheeses, seasonal pasta dishes, and specialties paired with the wines on offer. Every evening, the program features live music, DJ sets, aperitifs, and performances that keep the gardens lively until late. Castiglion Fiorentino, a medieval village overlooking the Valdichiana, maintains a strong identity tied to its terzieri (districts) — Porta Fiorentina, Porta Romana, and Cassero — which are the protagonists of the famous Palio dei Rioni. I Giorni di Bacco represents one of the moments when district life opens up to the city and its visitors, combining tradition, gastronomy, and local festivities in an appointment that attracts enthusiasts from across the province of Arezzo and nearby Tuscany every year.
