Two weekends of Tuscan flavors in the painted village of Ghizzano
The Olio Novo Festival takes place in Ghizzano, one of the most picturesque hamlets in the municipality of Peccioli, in the province of Pisa, nestled in the heart of the rolling Tuscany hills. Reaching its 49th edition in 2026, it is one of the most beloved spring festivals in the Valdera area: born in the 1970s to celebrate freshly pressed extra virgin olive oil, it has become an unmissable event that attracts visitors from all over the region and beyond.
Ghizzano is famous for its village transformed into a widespread work of art, with its main street painted in vibrant colors and a gallery-village identity that makes this small center unique in the Tuscan landscape. During the festival, the streets come to life, the colorful houses provide a backdrop for the stalls, and the atmosphere becomes one of a grand celebration shared by the whole community.
The true star is the freshly produced extra virgin olive oil, served on the classic bruschetta with oil and garlic, simple and fragrant. The food stalls offer traditional Tuscan rural dishes:
Everything is accompanied by local wine. The festival does not accept reservations: seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis, in the true spirit of a village fair.
Beyond the great food, every evening is enlivened by entertainment for all ages: live music, comedy shows, juggling and acrobatics performances, dance shows, DJ sets, and karaoke. Don't miss the Ghizzy Market, a market dedicated to crafts and local products. The entertainment alternates between family-friendly moments and more festive evenings, making the festival suitable for everyone.
The 2026 edition takes place over two consecutive weekends: Saturday 16, Sunday 17, Saturday 23, and Sunday 24 May. The stalls are open on Saturday evenings and for lunch and dinner on Sundays. Admission is free. The festival is organized by local associations and the Pro Loco of Ghizzano, with the support of the Municipality of Peccioli.
