The Night of the Cellars on the Wine Road

The Nacht der Keller, or Night of the Cellars, is one of the most beloved wine events in South Tyrol. Organized by the Südtiroler Weinstraße association, the evening transforms wineries and estates into public gathering spots: from late afternoon until midnight, winemakers and cellar masters welcome guests among the barrels, sharing their craft and showcasing local wines.

A traveling event along the Weinstraße

The hallmark of the Nacht der Keller is its traveling nature: each edition takes place in a different section of the Wine Road, one of the oldest in Italy, which winds for about 150 kilometers through sixteen municipalities between Bolzano and the Bassa Atesina. This way, year after year, the spotlight shines on a different portion of the South Tyrolean wine region.

The 2025 edition focused on the central part of the Weinstraße, featuring the municipalities of Appiano (Eppan) and Caldaro sulla strada del vino (Kaltern an der Weinstraße), in the province of Bolzano. Caldaro, overlooking its namesake lake and surrounded by vineyards, is a beating heart of South Tyrolean viticulture, famous for its tradition linked to Lake Caldaro (Kalterersee) and the area's great red and white wines.

Tastings, culture, and music

During the evening, visitors can participate in exclusive tastings and guided tours of the cellars, accompanied by food pairings and musical entertainment. Readings, small concerts, and vernissages further enrich the convivial atmosphere. A shuttle service connects the various participating wineries, allowing guests to move comfortably and safely from one estate to another.

An appointment in the heart of South Tyrol

Part of the Trentino-South Tyrol calendar, specifically in the autonomous province of Bolzano, the Nacht der Keller is an ideal opportunity to discover South Tyrolean wine culture in an informal and festive setting. The rotation along the Wine Road means that the Appiano and Caldaro section returns as the protagonist only every few years: those wishing to experience the evening specifically among the cellars of Caldaro will have to wait for the event's return to this part of the Weinstraße.
