The longest carnival in Trentino, traveling from district to district with pasta parties and local delicacies.
The Mori and Districts Carnival is renowned as "the longest carnival in Trentino." Rather than a single large event, it is a constellation of festivities that, for almost the entire month of February, travels from district to district within the Municipality of Mori, in the Vallagarina valley, in the Province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). Each village chooses its own day to host a large pasta party open to everyone, transforming squares, parish halls, and community centers into communal dining tables.
The calendar visits Manzano, Sano, Valle San Felice, Ravazzone, Tierno, Besagno, Loppio, Molina, and the historic center of Mori Vecio, which concludes the long season with the famous "Gran Carneval." Each community is organized by its own local associations—from carnival committees to recreational clubs, cultural groups, and volunteers—who manage the cooking, decorations, and entertainment, all under the patronage of the Municipality of Mori.
The true common thread is popular gastronomy: each district offers a different signature dish. You can enjoy polenta with sauerkraut and mortadella in Manzano, tomato gnocchi in Sano, maltagliati with meat sauce in Mori Vecio, Ravazzone, and Besagno, bigoi with sardines and spaghetti with sardines in Tierno and Loppio, as well as penne with meat sauce in Molina and the "sgnoccolada" in Tierno.
Beyond the food, the Mori Carnival is above all an identity-defining moment for the Vallagarina valley: the masks, the joy, the volunteer spirit, and the participation of families make it one of the most cherished local traditions. Admission to the pasta parties is free, and the dates, spread across several weekends, allow visitors to attend multiple stops. In case of bad weather, some days may be postponed; it is always advisable to check for updates from the organizing associations and the Municipality.
The 2026 edition of the Mori and Districts Carnival took place throughout the month of February, confirming the "longest carnival in Trentino" format. The various villages of the Municipality of Mori—Manzano, Sano, Tierno, Besagno, Loppio, Molina, Valle San Felice, Ravazzone, and the center of Mori Vecio—took turns offering their pasta parties and traditional Lagarina dishes.
Highlights included the classic polenta with sauerkraut and mortadella in Manzano and the maltagliati with meat sauce served in Mori Vecio, which accompanied the masked parades and entertainment for families. The calendar, as usual, included postponements in case of bad weather, with local associations managing the organization and cooking under the patronage of the Municipality.
The festivities take place in the Municipality of Mori (Province of Trento) and its districts: Manzano, Sano, Valle San Felice, Ravazzone, Tierno, Besagno, Loppio, Molina, and the historic center of Mori Vecio.
Mori is easily accessible via the A22 Brenner motorway (exit Rovereto Sud - Lago di Garda Nord) and by train to Rovereto, from where you can continue by local bus. Some days, such as the event in Loppio, include a shuttle service.
Free admission to the pasta parties; the cost of dishes is budget-friendly and varies from district to district.
