Festivities on Lake Garda with winter lights, markets, and seasonal flavors
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Every year, from late November until Epiphany, the municipality of Nago-Torbole, in the Province of Trento, transforms into a charming, widespread Christmas village. The festivities take place across the two historic centers that make up the town: Nago, perched above the road leading to Rovereto, and Torbole sul Garda, overlooking one of the most picturesque harbors on Lake Garda. Festive lights frame the streets, squares, and the small port, creating an intimate, family-friendly atmosphere that is less crowded than the large Alpine markets but equally enchanting.
The culinary heart of the event is found in the stalls at the Casèl di Torbole and in Piazzola in Nago, where visitors can enjoy local delicacies: roasted chestnuts, canederli, fritters, carne salada sandwiches, the traditional Christmas sbigolada organized by the Comitato Sbigolada, crêpes, and Gulaschsuppe. The food and wine offerings also include «Caminar, magnar entant che ven Nadal», a gourmet walk through the village streets, alongside events dedicated to traditional lake and Trentino cuisine.
The churches of San Vigilio in Nago and Sant'Andrea in Torbole host cultural and spiritual concerts, ranging from gospel choirs to Christmas carols, local choral groups, and the timeless sound of zampognari and Scottish bagpipes animating the streets during the holidays. Street performers entertain the public between the stalls, while theaters and municipal spaces host shows and initiatives organized by local associations.
The highlight for the little ones is the Casa di zia Natalia in Nago, where elves and reindeer welcome children for workshops and activities. The holiday calendar is marked by the arrival of iconic Christmas figures: Santa Lucia on December 12th (arriving by donkey in Nago and from the lake in Torbole), Santa Claus with gift deliveries at the Casèl, and finally the Befana on January 6th in both villages.
«Christmas in Nago-Torbole» is a collective effort organized by the Consorzio esercenti CENTO with the support of the Nago-Torbole Municipality and the collaboration of numerous local associations. It is the perfect opportunity to discover the winter side of Garda Trentino, when the lake is free from summer crowds and the villages reveal a more intimate and authentic dimension.
At the moment, the Consorzio esercenti CENTO and the Municipality of Nago-Torbole have not yet released the official dates or the program for the 2026 edition. As per tradition, the Christmas calendar is expected to unfold between late November and Epiphany in the two centers of Nago and Torbole sul Garda, with the usual food stalls, church concerts, choirs, street performers, and children's activities at the Casa di zia Natalia. This page will be updated as soon as the detailed program is made public.
Nago-Torbole is located at the northern end of Lake Garda, in the Province of Trento. By car: Take the A22 Brenner motorway, exit at Rovereto Sud, then follow the SS240 towards the lake (approx. 15 minutes). By train: Take the train to Rovereto station on the Verona-Brenner line, then catch a local bus to Torbole. Events mainly take place in the Piazzola in Nago and the Piazzetta degli Alpini in Torbole, both easily accessible on foot.
Most events are free to attend; tastings and certain activities may require a small contribution. For a detailed and updated program, it is recommended to contact the Consorzio esercenti CENTO (tel. +39 348 9328780) or visit the Garda Trentino website.
