About Spring Festival

The Mistretta Spring Festival welcomes the new season with a weekend dedicated to live music, local food tastings, and the popular traditions of the Amastra area. Between Piazza San Felice, the municipal gardens, and the historic quarters, this Nebrodi village in the province of Messina comes alive with food stalls, folk performances, street bands, children's entertainment, and opportunities to explore the area's natural beauty, from Lake Quattrocchi to nearby waterfalls.

The Spring Festival, a young tradition in Amastra

The Mistretta Spring Festival is a recently established event that has already become a cherished tradition for the community of this charming village in the Nebrodi Mountains, in the heart of the province of Messina. Mistretta, also known by its local dialect name of Amastra, sits at an altitude of about 900 metres and is one of the most picturesque towns in the Nebrodi Park, featuring a stone-paved historic centre, noble palaces, and ancient churches. The festival was created to celebrate the arrival of spring by combining music, gastronomy, nature, and local heritage.

A weekend of music, flavours, and fun

The event spans two days, transforming the town centre into a vibrant hub of celebration. The heart of the festivities is Piazza San Felice, where stalls are set up for tasting local products and specialities, while the municipal gardens host entertainment and activities. The programme features street bands, local folk group performances, evening live music, and plenty of family-friendly activities.

Fun for children and families

The Spring Festival pays special attention to younger visitors, offering bouncy castles, pony rides, balloons, candy floss, and creative workshops. It is a wonderful opportunity to experience the town in a festive, open-air setting, strolling among the stalls and enjoying the mild climate of an Amastratina spring.

Nature and surroundings: Lake Quattrocchi and the Nebrodi

The festival is also an invitation to discover the natural heritage surrounding Mistretta. Featured destinations include Lake Quattrocchi and the nearby waterfalls, perfect for excursions to explore the flora and fauna of the Nebrodi. Past editions have included guided tours of museums and historic districts, nature hikes, and horseback riding, highlighting the deep bond between the event and the territory.

An event promoted by the Municipality and local associations

The Spring Festival is organised by the Municipality of Mistretta with the involvement of local associations, who bring the days to life with shows, stalls, and cultural initiatives. It has become a highly anticipated date for residents and visitors alike, showcasing the identity of Mistretta and the rich food, wine, and landscapes of this corner of Sicily.
