A festival of flavours in the heart of the Madonie
The Madonie Autumn Flavours Festival is one of the most anticipated events of the autumn season in Petralia Sottana, a village in the Madonie Park in the province of Palermo, Sicily. For an entire weekend, the town's historic centre, particularly Corso Paolo Agliata, transforms into a gourmet trail where the absolute stars are the typical products of the Madonie mountains.
Local flavours
Along the village streets, farmers, shepherds, and artisans offer the best of local food and wine: pecorino cheeses and fresh ricotta, chestnuts, honey, and mushrooms, alongside cured meats, traditional sweets, and other zero-kilometre delicacies. There is no shortage of free tastings and traditional kitchens serving historic Sicilian recipes, providing a chance to get to know small-scale producers and their stories up close.
Music, shows, and traditions
The festival is about more than just gastronomy: the programme alternates between concerts and folk music, street performances in the town squares, entertainment, dance performances, workshops for children, and craft exhibitions. Past editions have featured musical evenings in the squares, DJ sets, cooking shows with local chefs, and vintage car and motorbike rallies, all in a festive atmosphere that involves the entire village.
Nature and heritage
The connection with the Madonie Park is expressed through nature hikes and guided walks to discover the trails and biodiversity of the area. During the event, the historic centre, ancient churches, and the Antonio Collisani Civic Museum remain open, with guided tours allowing visitors to discover the architectural and cultural heritage of Petralia Sottana.
Visitor services
To facilitate the influx of visitors, a shuttle service with dedicated stops and a camper area in the Sant'Elia district are organised. The event is promoted by the "Antonio Pepe" Natural Shopping Centre Consortium together with the Municipality of Petralia Sottana and other local bodies and sponsors.
Madonie Autumn Flavours — edition 2026
The 18th edition of the Madonie Autumn Flavours Festival will be held in Petralia Sottana from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 October 2026. The dates have been confirmed by the organisers, while the full programme — including concerts, shows, cooking shows, nature hikes, and guided tours — will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event. As every year, the historic centre will host stalls featuring typical Madonie products, including cheeses, ricotta, chestnuts, honey, and mushrooms, along with tastings and entertainment for all ages.

How to get there
Petralia Sottana can be reached by car from the A19 Palermo-Catania motorway (Tre Monzelli/Scillato exit) and the SS120. During the festival, a free shuttle service is active with stops at Piazza Padre Pio, the Via Garibaldi car park, Via Pirilla, Santa Lucia, and Madonnuzza.
