Three days of food, wine, culture, and entertainment in the village of Tusa

The Autumn Festival is one of the most anticipated events in the calendar of Tusa, a small village perched on the Nebrodi mountains in the province of Messina. Launched in 2024, the festival has quickly established itself as the perfect way to wrap up the summer season, transforming the historic center's streets into a vibrant journey of flavors, music, and culture. Promoted by the Municipality of Tusa as part of the "Estate Alesina" program, the festival celebrates local identity through gastronomy, traditions, and the rich local archaeological heritage.
The heart of the event is the extensive gastronomic trail that brings the village streets to life. Stalls offer the very best of Sicilian street food and Nebrodi specialties: panelle, arancine, fried fish, boiled octopus, sausage, gourmet sandwiches, porchetta, and desserts like cannoli, gelato, and granita, all paired with a selection of craft beers. It is a showcase of authentic Sicilian flavors and local produce, set in a convivial, family-friendly atmosphere.
The Autumn Festival is about more than just taste: the program alternates live musical performances, evening DJ sets, talks, and cooking shows with moments dedicated to discovering the local heritage. Highlights include guided tours of the Halaesa Arconidea archaeological site, one of the most important archaeological areas in northern Sicily, and workshops focused on traditional products, ranging from bread and extra virgin olive oil to contemporary pizza.
Nature also takes center stage with a nature walk in the Bosco di Tardara, where visitors can admire rare ash and cork oak trees, alongside activities designed for children, such as inflatables and games. The Sunday of the festival is traditionally dedicated to families, featuring outdoor activities that combine hiking, gastronomy, and entertainment.
Part of the "Tusa the Village of Art" project funded by the PNRR, the Autumn Festival is a key element of the Municipality's strategy to revitalize local tourism and culture. It is the ideal opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the province of Messina and Sicily, amidst archaeology, forests, flavors, and warm hospitality.
The Autumn Festival returns to Tusa, in the province of Messina, in 2026: the event is included in the "Estate Alesina 2026" program approved by the Municipality, with dates expected for late September. As of now, the precise dates and the full program have not yet been released by the municipal administration. The usual three-day format is expected, featuring a gastronomic trail, traditional Sicilian products, musical performances, DJ sets, visits to the Halaesa archaeological site, and excursions in the Bosco di Tardara. The detailed program will be published by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.
Tusa is located in the province of Messina, in the Nebrodi area. By car: take the A20 Messina-Palermo motorway, exit at Tusa, then follow the provincial road toward the historic center.
