A food and wine walk through the landscapes of the Roero in Ceresole d'Alba
The Marcia e beiv is now a staple of spring in Ceresole d'Alba, a small town in the Province of Cuneo located on the plateau that separates the Roero from the plains in Piedmont. The name itself, in the Piedmontese dialect, says it all: you walk (marcia) and you drink (beiv), combining the pleasure of an outdoor stroll with that of fine dining. The event is organised by the Pro Loco of Ceresole d'Alba, the association that has been promoting the territory and its traditions for years.
The trail winds for about 10 kilometres through the Ceresole countryside: dirt roads, rows of vines, small woods, and glimpses of the gentle Roero landscape, a land of great wines and authentic flavours. The walk is not a race: you proceed calmly, at your own pace, stopping at each stage to rest and taste. It is an ideal opportunity to discover a corner of Piedmont that is often less travelled than the nearby Langhe, but just as charming.
The heart of the day consists of five gastronomic stops distributed along the route. At each stop, you will enjoy a different course, from the initial breakfast to the final dessert, always accompanied by wine and drinks. Specialties that have featured in recent editions include peppers with sauce and tumin dij maghin, agnolotti del plin with butter and sage, chicken with chips, and fruit salad with pampavia ice cream—authentic classics of Piedmontese country cuisine.
The Marcia e beiv is much more than just a walk: it is a community moment that brings together locals, walkers, and curious visitors from nearby towns. The format is suitable for families and children, with reduced rates for the little ones, and the musical finale with DJs and entertainment makes the event convivial and accessible to all. Participating means supporting the work of the Pro Loco and experiencing a day of taste and nature in the Cuneo Roero.
