The food and wine walking tour through the woods of Pianfei
Mangiandando is one of the most beloved food and wine walking tours in the Cuneo area: a loop of about 13 kilometers that winds through the woods, hamlets, and trails around the lake of Pianfei, a small town in the Province of Cuneo overlooking the Bisalta. The concept is simple and irresistible: you walk at a leisurely pace, immersed in the greenery of the Piedmontese spring, and stop at a series of refreshment points along the way to enjoy local traditional dishes. It is not a race, but a day of celebration for families, groups of friends, and food enthusiasts.
The heart of the event lies in the stops scattered along the route: each one is managed by one of the participating Pro Loco associations and offers a different course, from appetizers to dessert. In recent editions, the walk has passed through the hamlets of Paradiso, Viglioni, and Sant'Ambrogio, as well as the localities of Mussi, Pra' de l'Asu, and Roncaglia. The menu ranges from breakfast bread and salami to tripe, crostini with anchovies and olives, rustic salads, leek ravioli with capocollo and sausage, and final desserts like paste di meliga cookies and zabaglione. A true full-course lunch served kilometer by kilometer, showcasing the authentic flavors of the Monregalese territory.
Mangiandando is organized by the Pro Loco of Pianfei, the lead organizer, in collaboration with the Pro Loco associations of Cervere, Chiusa di Pesio, Rocca de' Baldi, Vicoforte, and Villanova Mondovì. This network of local volunteer associations makes the event possible, both in the kitchen and along the trails, serving as a concrete example of regional promotion. Participation grows every year, reaching nearly four hundred attendees, with frequent sell-outs that attest to the success of the formula.
Set in the heart of Piedmont, among the hills and woods rising toward the Bisalta, Mangiandando is also an opportunity to discover Pianfei and its landscape in one of the most beautiful seasons. The staggered departures from the sports field on Via Bisalta allow participants to tackle the route at their own pace, enjoying nature and conviviality without any rush.
For its 17th edition, Mangiandando confirmed its winning formula: staggered departures starting at 8:30 AM from the sports field on Via Bisalta and a 13-kilometer loop through the woods of the Bisalta, punctuated by refreshment stops featuring dishes from the participating Pro Loco associations. The event, organized by the Pro Loco of Pianfei with the Pro Loco of Cervere, Chiusa di Pesio, Rocca de' Baldi, Vicoforte, and Villanova Mondovì, attracted nearly four hundred participants for a day of sunshine, flavor, and conviviality along the spring trails of the Cuneo area.
Following the tradition of previous editions, the stops offer a full lunch distributed along the route: breakfast with bread and salami, appetizers, first courses like leek ravioli, main courses, and desserts with coffee.
Start and finish at the Pianfei Sports Field, on Via Bisalta (Pianfei, Province of Cuneo, Piedmont). The loop route is approximately 13 kilometers long, crossing woods and trails with some uneven sections: comfortable trekking shoes are recommended.
The event takes place in the spring, on a Sunday. Departures are staggered starting from 8:30 AM at the sports field.
Participation requires registration, with mandatory booking by the week preceding the event. For information and bookings, call +39 366 8719215 (also via WhatsApp). Payment is made on the day of the event.
Pianfei can be reached by car from the Mondovì and Cuneo areas; the sports field has parking areas nearby.
