The autumn festival celebrating the Slow Food Presidium Bleggio walnut in the village of Cavrasto
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Bleggio Walnut Festival takes place every November in the village of Cavrasto, a hamlet of Bleggio Superiore, located in the heart of the Giudicarie Esteriori in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). The event is entirely dedicated to the Bleggio walnut, a niche product with a sweet, spicy, and highly aromatic flavor, which has been recognized as a Slow Food Presidium since 2016, alongside the Sorrento walnut.
For an entire weekend, the streets and squares of Cavrasto's historic center transform into a grand showcase of taste and rural tradition. The village houses become small shops where you can sample walnuts in their natural state or enjoy them in cakes, breads, nocino liqueur, and even walnut salami.
Walnut cultivation in the Bleggio area is a centuries-old tradition: the production zone includes the municipalities of Bleggio, Comano Terme, and the villages of Santa Croce, Bivedo, and Cavrasto, the historic heart of walnut farming. Today, the Presidium brings together about fifty producers and nearly a hundred families who grow the trees with passion, resulting in an annual production of several hundred quintals that continues to grow. The Confraternity of the Bleggio Walnut was established to protect the fruit, working alongside the Pro Loco of Cavrasto and the Judicaria Ecomuseum to organize the festival.
The Bleggio Walnut Festival is part of the autumn calendar for the Garda Trentino region and the "Month of Taste" promoted by the Garda Dolomiti Tourist Board. It is a perfect opportunity to discover the Giudicarie Esteriori in the low season, amidst rural landscapes, authentic gastronomy, and the hospitality of a community proud of its signature product.
The Bleggio Walnut Festival returns, as is tradition, on a weekend in November in the village of Cavrasto (Bleggio Superiore). At the moment, the official dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced and the program is currently being defined.
As every year, the festival is expected to bring the streets of the historic center to life with a producers' market, artisan shops, tastings of the Bleggio walnut (Slow Food Presidium) and its derivatives, workshops for adults and children, and walks along the Walnut Trail. Information will be updated as soon as the Pro Loco of Cavrasto and the Confraternity of the Bleggio Walnut announce the final calendar.
The festival is held in the historic center of Cavrasto, a hamlet of Bleggio Superiore (province of Trento), in the Giudicarie Esteriori.
By car: from the A22 Brenner motorway, take the Trento Centro or San Michele all'Adige exit and continue towards Giudicarie / Comano Terme. Cavrasto is just a few kilometers from Ponte Arche and Comano Terme.
Admission to the festival is free; some tastings, workshops, and set menus may require a contribution. For information: Pro Loco Cavrasto, tel. +39 348 786 4201.
Dogs on a leash are welcome, and there is a dedicated family area. We recommend wearing clothing suitable for the autumn mountain climate.
