Three days dedicated to milk, cheese, and the farming traditions of the Pinerolo area
In Scalenghe, a small town in the Pinerolo plains near Turin, milk is more than just a product: it is an identity. With over 3,000 dairy cows and an annual production exceeding 234,000 quintals, the town found the perfect way to tell its story through a clever play on words: LatteforMaggio. Every year in early May, the dairy fair transforms the streets and squares of the town center into a grand narrative of the milk supply chain, from the stable to the table.
LatteforMaggio was born from the fusion of two traditions: the Scalenghe Agricultural Fair, one of the oldest in the region, and the town's patronal feast. This dual nature makes the event a collective celebration, bringing together the agricultural world—farmers, cheesemakers, and local supply chain businesses—with the entire community through official ceremonies, conviviality, and entertainment. The event is held under the patronage of the Metropolitan City of Turin and the Piedmont Region.
The beating heart of the fair is Piazza Santa Caterina and the exhibition area along Via Cavour, where for three days activities for all ages take place:
LatteforMaggio is a festival that blends the rural roots of the Pinerolo area with a lively, contemporary program. Alongside re-enactments of vintage threshing and cheesemaking demonstrations, the event features the Corri... a Scalenghe running race, motor rallies, and dinners under the marquee. It is the perfect occasion for those who want to get to know Piedmontese agriculture up close without sacrificing the pleasure of good food and conviviality.
More than just a local festival, LatteforMaggio has become a landmark over the years for Scalenghe and the entire Pinerolo district, attracting visitors from Turin and the surrounding province. The event promotes the daily work of farming families and highlights an authentic culinary heritage made of fresh milk, cheese, and traditions passed down from generation to generation.
The sixth edition of LatteforMaggio brought Scalenghe to life from May 1st to 3rd, 2026, intertwining the patronal feast with the 19th Agricultural Fair. At the heart of the event, Piazza Santa Caterina and the Via Cavour exhibition area hosted cheese tastings, cheesemaking and milking demonstrations, agricultural machinery displays, a vintage tractor gathering, and the traditional Open Farm Days. There was no shortage of street food, beer, a funfair, and dance evenings, in addition to the Terre da Tasté tasting dedicated to products from the Food District. The event was held under the patronage of the Metropolitan City of Turin and the Piedmont Region.
Throughout the event: funfair, street food stands, and beer service.
