The food and wine festival in the village of Ventimiglia di Sicilia
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The I Sapori del Feudo di Calamigna Festival is the most anticipated summer event in Ventimiglia di Sicilia, a small village in the Metropolitan City of Palermo founded in the 17th century on the ancient Calamigna fiefdom, nestled beneath the mountains that overlook the Palermitan hinterland. The event, organized by the Municipality, was created to promote local products and the history of the noble Ventimiglia family from whom the town takes its name, transforming the streets of the historic center into an open-air culinary trail for one night.
The heart of the festival lies in the food stalls set up along Via Garibaldi and the surrounding streets, where visitors can taste specialties that reflect the peasant and pastoral cuisine of the Trabia Mountains and the Madonie. Unmissable highlights include:
Tastings are accompanied by entertainment and folk music that keep the evening alive until late at night. Recent editions have featured the folk group I Terrazzani and Band 9106, alongside craft exhibitions and areas dedicated to children, in a festive atmosphere that engages the entire community and visitors from neighboring towns.
The festival is also an opportunity to discover the heritage of Ventimiglia di Sicilia: during the event, guided tours of the Mother Church and the Mountain Museum are offered, preserving testimonies of the village's history and traditions. The event is part of the regional initiatives promoting Sicily, European Region of Gastronomy, and is supported by the Regional Department of Agriculture.
More than just a village festival, I Sapori del Feudo di Calamigna is a journey into the gastronomic and cultural identity of an authentic corner of Sicily, where the quality of local products meets the hospitality and centuries-old history of the fiefdom. An ideal appointment for those seeking the most genuine side of Sicily, far from the most crowded destinations.
The I Sapori del Feudo di Calamigna Festival returns in 2026 to Ventimiglia di Sicilia, in the province of Palermo, confirming a well-established summer appointment. At the moment, the dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced and the detailed program is not yet available. Based on previous editions, the event will be held in August and will offer tastings of typical local products, folk music performances, and guided tours of the Mother Church and the Mountain Museum. Updated information will be communicated by the Municipality of Ventimiglia di Sicilia.
Ventimiglia di Sicilia is located about 35 km from Palermo. By car, it can be reached via the A19 Palermo-Catania motorway (Trabia or Buonfornello exit), continuing towards the hinterland. The nearest train station is in Trabia, on the Palermo-Messina coastal line.
Access to the festival is free; tastings at the stalls are paid for with tickets or by direct purchase of the products.
The event takes place in the evening during the summer: comfortable clothing is recommended, and it is advisable to arrive a little early to park in the center's areas. Combine your visit with a walk through the village and guided tours of the local heritage.
