The traditional dessert of the Nadurisi takes center stage during the Bompensiere Summer
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Guastedda Nadurisa Festival takes place in Bompensiere, a town of just over six hundred inhabitants in the province of Caltanissetta, in the heart of Sicily. The festival's name refers to the historical nickname of the town's inhabitants, called Nadurisi after the ancient name of the fiefdom, Naduri: the event is therefore an identity-driven homage to the community and its memory.
The absolute star is the sweet Nissena guastedda, a specialty of the confectionery tradition of the Caltanissetta province. It consists of a dough disc made from soft wheat flour (typically Maiorca wheat), fried in lard, and then brushed with melted honey, preferably sulla honey. It is the same dough that, when folded over a ricotta filling, creates the famous Nissena raviola. During the festival, the dessert is prepared and offered for tasting according to a recipe passed down from generation to generation.
The festival is part of the rich Bompensiere Summer program, a series of summer events promoted by the Municipality of Bompensiere in collaboration with the local Youth Council. Alongside the dessert tasting, the evening features music and folk performances: in the 2025 edition, the stage hosted the folk group from the City of Agrigento, featuring dances, costumes, and songs of the Sicilian tradition.
Bompensiere is one of the smallest municipalities in the Sicily Region, immersed in the hilly landscape of the Nisseno area. The Guastedda Nadurisa Festival represents one of the most cherished events of the local summer, capable of enlivening an otherwise quiet village and showcasing an authentic gastronomic heritage. Attending means discovering a lesser-known, genuine Sicily, made of ancient flavors, hospitality, and community pride.
The 2026 edition of the Guastedda Nadurisa Festival in Bompensiere has not yet been officially confirmed. Based on previous years, the festival dedicated to the traditional dessert of the Nadurisi is expected to take place at the beginning of August as part of the Bompensiere Summer. The detailed program, including performances and times, will be announced by the Municipality of Bompensiere in the weeks leading up to the event.
The festival takes place in the streets and squares of the center of Bompensiere (CL), in the province of Caltanissetta, in the heart of Sicily.

Bompensiere can be reached by car via the SS189 Agrigento-Caltanissetta road. The nearest airports are in Palermo and Catania. A private car is recommended given the inland location of the village.
Participation in the festival and the tasting is generally free.
