A cycling tour through Art Nouveau villas, the historic village, and farmhouses, held on World Environment Day
The Great Bike Ride through History and Nature in Pianezza is the event that brings the Green Week of Pianezza—a town on the western outskirts of Turin, in the Province of Turin and the heart of Piedmont—to a spectacular close. Organized by the Municipality of Pianezza in collaboration with numerous local associations and the Pro Loco, the event is held on the occasion of World Environment Day, combining gentle exercise, heritage discovery, and local flavors into a single day.
The meeting point is Villa Granero, where a bike ride designed for everyone begins, accompanied by guided tours. The itinerary touches on the town's most significant landmarks: the Chapel of San Sebastiano, a stop at the Masso Gastaldi, and a tour of the historic village, featuring the Torre del Ricetto, local churches, and elegant Art Nouveau villas. It is an original way to rediscover the historical memory of Pianezza while moving at a slow pace, without polluting.
After the section dedicated to the historic center, the day continues along naturalistic paths that cross meadows and countryside. The route takes participants to local farms, such as La Primula and Fulvio Rovey, with visits and tastings of local products, ending with a delicious stop at the Fattoria del Gelato. It is an opportunity to get to know local agriculture and the area's food and wine excellence up close.
The bike ride is a deeply family-friendly and inclusive event: those who do not cycle can follow a shorter route on foot, and dogs are allowed. The lunch break, scheduled at Villa Leumann, turns into a celebration with a picnic in the park, stalls from cultural associations, games, and entertainment for children. A formula that blends urban trekking, cycle tourism, and community celebration in the name of sustainability.
The event is part of the broader Pianezza Green Week, a week of initiatives dedicated to the environment, nature, and a greener lifestyle, featuring exhibitions, educational activities in schools, and awareness-raising moments. The Great Bike Ride represents its festive culmination, bringing together citizens, families, cyclists, and lovers of local history.
Free participation, shortened walking route for non-cyclists, dogs allowed.
