Free morning concerts in the Gallery of Kings at the Museo Egizio in Turin
Onde is the free concert series at the Museo Egizio in Turin, hosted in the evocative Gallery of Kings, surrounded by the imposing statues of Egyptian sovereigns and the sculptures of the lioness goddess Sekhmet. One Sunday a month, the museum's most spectacular hall turns into an intimate auditorium where live music engages in a dialogue with thousands of years of history. In 2026, the series expands to become a staple of Turin's cultural calendar, with twelve morning concerts scheduled from January to December.
The core theme of Onde is the idea of sound as a wave traveling through time and space, capable of connecting distant eras and languages. The program is intentionally broad, spanning various genres:
Each concert features different performers, ranging from young talents to established musicians, in a journey that celebrates both tradition and sonic exploration.
Onde was born from the collaboration between the Museo Egizio and three local musical entities: the Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino, the โGiuseppe Verdiโ State Conservatory, and the Fondazione Merz. Each partner curates a portion of the program, bringing different sensibilities and repertoires to the Gallery of Kings: from the rigor of the Conservatory's classical tradition to the sonic experiments of the Fondazione Merz, and the symphonic breadth of the Orchestra Filarmonica.
The hallmark of Onde is that it is free of charge: all concerts offer free admission upon reservation, aiming to bring the public closer to music and, simultaneously, to the museum's collections. During the morning performances, attendees are free to explore the Gallery of Sekhmet, enjoying an experience that blends listening with contemplation. The series confirms the Museo Egizio's role not only as a world-class archaeological institution but also as a vibrant space for music and culture in the city of Turin and the Piedmont region.
