The Toma Trail: running through the paths of the Susa Valley

The Toma Trail is the autumn event that transforms Condove, a town in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont, into the starting point for one of the most beloved mountain races in the lower Susa Valley. The event, organized by the Freemount ASD sports association, takes place concurrently with the Toma Cheese Fair, which has celebrated the local alpine cheese for over thirty years.

A technical course immersed in nature

The route covers approximately 16 kilometers with 950 meters of elevation gain, winding through woods, historic mule tracks, and mid-mountain paths. A highlight is the passage along the Sentiero dei Morti, an ancient route restored by local volunteers. It is a challenging race that tests even the most seasoned trail runners, yet the charm of the landscape and the festive atmosphere make it suitable for those seeking an alpine running experience without competitive pressure.

Sport, tradition, and flavor

What makes the Toma Trail special is its bond with the Condove Toma Cheese Fair: while athletes race on the trails, the village comes alive with stalls, producers, tastings, and the transhumance of herds descending from the mountain pastures. At the finish line, participants find the village bustling with the festival dedicated to Toma, the signature cheese of the Turin valleys.
