A medieval village turned into a stage

Giullari in Borgo is the street arts festival that animates Vico nel Lazio every August. This enchanting medieval village in the province of Frosinone, Lazio, is perched on the Monti Ernici, about twenty kilometers from the provincial capital. Enclosed by ancient walls with three access gates, the town is naturally suited to the magic of buskers: for two consecutive evenings, its stone squares and narrow alleys become one large, open-air theater.

The spirit of the event

Conceived and organized by the Mani-Slegate Association, a non-profit organization founded by a group of local youths, the festival aims to turn the village into a giant stage under the stars, blending different generations, languages, cultures, and artistic expressions. The goal is to celebrate street art in all its forms: jugglers, tightrope walkers, actors, musicians, acrobats, fire-eaters, mimes, and visual artists perform for two days throughout the village, captivating audiences of all ages.

How the festival works

The formula is well-established: four squares are set up as performance stages, hosting rotating acts for over five hours each evening, from late afternoon until late at night. The festival traditionally opens with a parade of all the artists through the town streets, while a roaming band wanders the alleys, keeping the music alive between shows. Everything is completely free.

More than just performances

Alongside the shows, Giullari in Borgo offers craft markets, exhibitions, and installations that turn the village into a living museum. Supported by the Municipality of Vico nel Lazio, the event has become one of the most anticipated summer highlights in the province of Frosinone and a point of pride for the Lazio Region regarding busker festivals. The twelfth edition took place on August 9th and 10th, 2025, confirming the growth of an event that combines entertainment, community, and the promotion of one of the most evocative villages in the Monti Ernici.
