A widespread festival weaving together music, words, and color in the heart of Mondovì
The Funamboli Festival is one of the most beloved cultural events in the Monregalese area. Every spring, it brings Mondovì—an art city in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont—to life with a rich calendar of events that interweave music with literature, journalism, and the visual arts. Originally conceived as a festival dedicated to the "good word," the event is organized by the cultural association Gli Spigolatori ETS, with the patronage of the Municipality of Mondovì and the collaboration of numerous local entities.
The winning formula of Funamboli is that of a widespread festival: meetings are not concentrated in a single venue but take place throughout the city's most beautiful and iconic locations. From the Ceramics Museum in Piazza Maggiore to the historic Sala Ghislieri, from the Church of the Mission to the former Jesuit Palace, and the evocative San Biagio Monastery, every evening becomes an opportunity to rediscover the architectural and artistic heritage of Mondovì. It is a way to combine cultural offerings with the promotion of the territory and the historic center of Mondovì.
The festival's hallmark is its ability to foster dialogue between diverse voices: singer-songwriters and writers, musicians and journalists, illustrators and storytellers. Over the years, Funamboli has hosted major names from the Italian musical and literary scene, alternating concerts, talks, literary walks, and editorial presentations. Each edition revolves around a central theme that runs through all the events, offering the public a coherent and layered reading of contemporary life.
One of the distinctive features of the Funamboli Festival is that it is free of charge: all events are open to the public until capacity is reached. This choice makes culture accessible and helps establish Mondovì as a reference point for fans of singer-songwriter music and literature from across the province of Cuneo and the rest of Piedmont. For those visiting the Monregalese area in the spring, Funamboli represents an excellent opportunity to combine cultural and gastronomic tourism in the heart of the Langhe and the Cuneo valleys.
The seventh edition of the Funamboli Festival was held in Mondovì from May 9 to June 6, 2026, on the theme "Sing, O Goddess: Stories of Music and Words," dedicated to the connection between music, literature, and visual arts. The festival, with free admission and under the artistic direction of Alex Corlazzoli, offered ten events spread across the city's most beautiful locations.
Among the protagonists of the edition: Bandabardò, the Piccola Orchestra dei Popoli with the show "La profuga," Vasco Brondi, writer Paolo Roversi with a noir literary walk, Vinicio Capossela in conversation with Enzo Bianchi at Sala Ghislieri, Omar Pedrini, violinist Alessandra Sonia Romano with the "Violin of the Shoah" at the San Biagio Monastery, and a tribute to Giorgio Gaber. The program was completed by a summer spin-off scheduled for July at the San Biagio Monastery.
Mondovì can be reached by car via the A6 Turin-Savona motorway (Mondovì exit) or by train via the Mondovì station on the Turin-Savona line. The historic center (Mondovì Piazza) is connected to the Breo district by a funicular.
All events are free to attend until capacity is reached. It is recommended to arrive early for the most popular concerts and meetings.
Events take place in various locations in the center: Ceramics Museum (Piazza Maggiore 1), Sala Ghislieri, Church of the Mission, former Jesuit Palace, and San Biagio Monastery.
