A festival for the readers of Farigliano

Every year, the Nicola and Beppe Milano Civic Library in Farigliano opens its doors with an initiative that celebrates reading, community, and the bond between generations. Open Doors — Early Summer Library Festival is an afternoon of festivities that draws readers of all ages to the heart of the town of Farigliano, in the Langhe area of the Cuneo province, from families with children to the library's most loyal senior patrons.

An opportunity for intergenerational connection

The initiative was created to highlight the library's role as a community hub and to showcase the quality of services it offers its users. It is the perfect occasion to discover new literary arrivals on the shelves, browse the latest publications, and appreciate a cultural heritage that belongs to the entire town.

The festival program

• Awards for the most frequent readers: a recognition, accompanied by small gifts, for those who have visited the library most consistently throughout the year.
• Welcome book for newborns: babies born in the previous year receive a book, the first step in a journey that connects the youngest residents of Farigliano to reading from birth.
• Traditional skittles games: hosted by the Farigliano Skittles Association, this revival of traditional games allows participants to relive childhood experiences, with challenges open to women of all ages in the legendary game of skittles.
• Book market: a space to browse through used books and new releases in search of inspiring texts and captivating works.
• Convivial snack: at the end of the afternoon, a shared snack brings the day to a close in a festive atmosphere.

A deeply rooted local event

Now in its fifth edition, the festival has become a highly anticipated event for the Farigliano community. In its spring editions, it was known as Spring of Beauty; today, it celebrates the arrival of summer with the same spirit of sharing. The event is promoted by the Civic Library in collaboration with the Farigliano Skittles Association and takes place on the library premises in Piazza San Giovanni, in the Langhe region of Piedmont. Admission is free and open to all.
