Where comics meet gourmet food and craft beer in Piozzo
Foodmetti @ Baladin Open Garden is a one-of-a-kind event held in Piozzo, a charming village in the Langhe hills of the Piedmont region. For an entire weekend, the Baladin Open Garden—the garden-laboratory of the renowned Baladin Agricultural Brewery, a pioneer in Italian craft beer since 1996—transforms into a vibrant meeting point for top comic book creators, gourmet cuisine, and beer tasting.
The concept builds on the collaboration established at Lucca Comics & Games between Baladin and Foodmetti – Artisti delle Tavole, a project that bridges the worlds of food and comics through performances, exhibitions, and unique events. In Piozzo, this vision comes to life in a welcoming, rural setting where fans can meet the stars of the ninth art in person.
The program is designed for comic book enthusiasts, foodies, and the curious alike. Throughout the two days, the schedule features a variety of entertainment and cultural activities:
The culinary side is curated with the same passion as the comics: dishes created by renowned chefs are paired with the brewery's beers, fostering a dialogue between flavors and creativity that is the true hallmark of Foodmetti.
Visiting Foodmetti is also the perfect excuse to explore Piozzo and the surrounding area: the UNESCO-listed Langhe hills, a land famous for its world-class wines, truffles, and rich gastronomic traditions. It is a weekend that blends pop culture, culinary excellence, and the relaxed atmosphere of a country garden.
The third edition of Foodmetti @ Baladin Open Garden takes place on Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21, 2026, at the Baladin Open Garden in Piozzo, in the province of Cuneo.
Announced artists include: Mirka Andolfo, Giuseppe Camuncoli, Elena Casagrande, Andrea Broccardo, Marco Bailone, Christian Cornia, Giorgio Salati, Marco Albiero, Davide Gianfelice, and Francesco D'Ippolito.
Saturday kicks off at 7:00 PM with a presentation and book signings; at 8:30 PM, a guided tasting with chef Christian Meloni Delrio, critic Carlo Spinelli, and Teo Musso, followed at 9:00 PM by a collective live drawing session with Marco Bailone. On Sunday, starting at 11:00 AM, the program features various talks—from "The Italian Touch" on Italian aesthetics in US comics to editing and scouting—alongside live drawing on Baladin bottles and book signings.
On the culinary front, chef Cristiano Tomei will offer signature dishes like the "Club Sandman" and the vegetarian "Batbaganush," paired with Baladin craft beers.
The Baladin Open Garden is located at Località Valle 25, in Piozzo (CN), in the Langhe area. By car, take the A6 Turin-Savona motorway (exit at Carrù or Mondovì) and follow signs for Piozzo. The nearest train station is in Mondovì.
Admission to the event is free. Lunch reservations are available exclusively for groups of 14 or more.
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and arriving early for the most popular book signing sessions. There are plenty of agriturismos and wineries in the surrounding area to extend your stay in the Langhe.
