About Fiuggi Christmas Markets

Every winter, Fiuggi, the famous spa town in the province of Frosinone, dresses up for its Christmas Markets. Dozens of exhibitors line Parco Helmstedt and the streets of the historic center, offering local crafts, traditional Ciociaria culinary specialties, collectibles, and hobby items. Free admission, festive lights from the Immaculate Conception to Epiphany, entertainment for children, live music, and Santa's Village in the heart of the medieval town.

Christmas in the City of Waters

Fiuggi is known throughout Italy for its thermal waters, but in the weeks between the Immaculate Conception and Epiphany, this small town in the province of Frosinone, Lazio, transforms into one of the most popular Christmas destinations in the Ciociaria region. The Fiuggi Christmas Markets are the heart of this season: a trail of wooden huts and stalls connecting the modern Fiuggi Fonte area to the medieval village of Fiuggi Cittร , with festive lights illuminating the main streets and squares from morning until night.

Parco Helmstedt, the heart of the markets

The main venue is Parco Helmstedt, the large green space named after the town's German twin city, which hosts exhibitor stands during December weekends and holidays. Here you will find local crafts, collectibles, handmade Christmas decorations, and above all, food stalls featuring the best traditional Ciociaria specialties: cured meats, cheeses, homemade bread, festive pastries, honey, and local preserves. Admission is free, and in recent editions, the markets have remained open all day, allowing visitors from Rome or the Frosinone area to dedicate an entire day to the event.

A city-wide Christmas celebration

The markets are not an isolated event but part of a broader Christmas program curated by the Municipality of Fiuggi in collaboration with the Tourism Department and local associations. The calendar typically includes:

  • the lighting of the festive lights and the official inauguration on the first weekend of December;
  • the Immaculate Conception feast on December 8th, with Christmas entertainment, inflatables, and games for children;
  • Santa's Village in the historic center, featuring Santa's house set up in Palazzo de Medici and the Elf Garden;
  • Christmas and New Year's concerts, theater festivals, and performances in the square;
  • the traditional tombolata (bingo) and Epiphany events, which conclude the season on January 6th.

Why it's worth the trip

The charm of the Fiuggi markets lies in the combination of the event's human scale and its setting: the old village, perched over 700 meters above sea level in the Ernici Mountains, offers stone alleys, scenic views of the valley, and a winter chill that makes the Nordic atmosphere of the wooden huts feel authentic. Just a few minutes away are the Bonifacio VIII and Anticolana thermal springs, allowing visitors to combine the market visit with a day of wellness: it is one of the most popular winter tourism formulas in Lazio.

The Ciociaria context

Those with more than one day can build a small Christmas itinerary in the Ciociaria region: in Alatri, the artistic nativity scene exhibition in the cloister of San Francesco; in Aquino, Santa's Village; and in Anagni, the illuminated papal historic center. Fiuggi remains the most convenient base, thanks to the rich hotel offerings inherited from its long thermal tradition.

Fiuggi Christmas Markets โ€” edition 2026

Sources indicate the period ran from December 8, 2025, to January 6, 2026, though a consolidated day-by-day calendar was not published.

The period indicated by tourism sources ran from December 8, 2025, to January 6, 2026, with the historic center transformed into a Christmas village and exhibitors concentrated at Parco Helmstedt.

As in previous seasons, admission to the markets remained free, and the offerings combined local crafts, hobby items, decorations, and typical Ciociaria products. The city calendar included festive lights, children's entertainment, live music, and events related to Epiphany.
