Supino's historic end-of-summer fair featuring local products, a tractor blessing, and traditional stewed mutton
The Quattro Strade Fair is one of the most deeply rooted events in the life of the Municipality of Supino, a medieval village nestled at the foot of the Lepini Mountains in the province of Frosinone, Lazio. Every year, on September 12th, the lower part of the town transforms into a large open-air market: stalls, tractors, families, and visitors from across the Ciociaria region gather along Via La Mola and around the Quattro Strade crossroads, from which the fair takes its name.
The fair is deeply linked to Via La Mola, the road connecting the town center to the plains, which celebrated its centenary in 2025. For that edition, the Municipality of Supino, the Pro Loco, and the Supino in Vetrina association celebrated the street's hundredth anniversary with a special day, confirming the identity-defining value of an event that weaves together commerce, faith, and rural memory.
As with any traditional fair, the Quattro Strade offers a diverse array of stalls:
The atmosphere is that of the village fairs of yesteryear: an opportunity for generations to meet, haggle, taste, and chat.
The dish that defines the day more than any other is stewed mutton, a specialty of the pastoral cuisine of the Lepini Mountains, prepared and served during the fair. Alongside this signature dish, there is no shortage of other Ciociarian gastronomic delights, from cheeses to garden produce, all reflecting Supino's agricultural heritage.
The fair also retains a religious and communal dimension: the morning traditionally opens with Holy Mass at the Fontana Privito in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, followed by the blessing of the tractors along Via La Mola. There is also space for folk games for children and teenagers—jump rope, hopscotch, tug-of-war, and sack races—allowing new generations to rediscover the outdoor pastimes of the past.
The 2026 edition of the Quattro Strade Fair is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2026, and is part of the Supino 360° program, the calendar of events promoted by the municipal administration that accompanies the Supino summer until the end of September, featuring patronal feasts, food festivals, and cultural appointments. Together with the European Heritage Days, the fair ideally closes the town's summer season before the autumn events, such as the Cheese Festival.
The Quattro Strade Fair returns to Supino on Saturday, September 12, 2026, confirmed as part of the Supino 360° calendar, which accompanies the summer of the Ciociarian town from July 10th to September 27th with patronal feasts, culture, and traditions. As is customary, the day will bring Via La Mola and the Quattro Strade area to life with stalls selling local products, handicrafts, clothing, dried fruit, and sweets.
While awaiting the official detailed program, the 2026 edition is expected to feature the fair's tried-and-tested formula: morning religious moments, the tractor blessing, folk games for children, and the serving of stewed mutton, the event's signature dish. Admission is free.
By car: A1 Rome-Naples motorway, exit at Ferentino, then take the SS156 of the Lepini Mountains towards Supino; the town is about 15 km from Frosinone. By train: Ferentino-Supino station on the Rome-Cassino line, then local transport to the center.
The fair takes place along Via La Mola and in the Quattro Strade area, in the lower part of the town; admission is free. It is recommended to arrive in the morning to witness the tractor blessing and find parking in the nearby areas. Info: Municipality of Supino and Pro Loco Supino.
