Marsure Cheese Celebrated

In the hamlet of Marsure, in the municipality of Aviano, at the foot of the Carnic Prealps and Piancavallo, the Cheese Festival returns every June. The event celebrates the Marsure Social Dairy, a historic local cheesemaking cooperative, and its products, in a village festival organised by Pro Loco Marsure together with the dairy's members.

Two Days of Dairy Flavours

The heart of the festival is the marquee set up in front of the dairy, where the food stalls offer the great classics of Friulian cuisine based on cheese: the unmissable frico, homemade gnocchi, pasta and beans, polenta, grilled cheese, ricotta, caciotta, and other typical dairy cheeses. A taste journey that enhances local dairy production and the work of the members.

Cheesemaking Tradition of the Prealps

The Cheese Festival is not just an occasion for good food, but also a moment to learn about the cheese culture of these mountains, where shepherding and milk processing have been a pillar of the local economy and identity for centuries. The Marsure Dairy, with its long history, is one of the symbols of this tradition.
