The second-hand and used book market in Piazza Risorgimento
Some are looking for an old vinyl record, others for an out-of-print book, a vintage piece, or an antique postcard: La Soffitta in Piazza is the non-professional second-hand market that, one Sunday a month, enlivens Piazza Risorgimento and the surrounding areas of Pordenone. Together with the Angolo del Libro Usato (Used Book Corner), dedicated to second-hand volumes, it is the realm of collectors, the curious, and those who love rummaging through stalls in search of a bargain.
The market's unique feature is its nature: the stalls are run by private citizens, not professional traders. Used items, books, collectibles, coins, vintage goods, and household items are sold and exchanged in an informal and popular atmosphere. It's an opportunity to give new life to what is no longer needed, promoting reuse and sustainability.
Organized by Pro Loco Pordenone APS, the market takes place on the last Sunday of the month from March to November (with breaks in July, August, and December). It's a recurring event that brings life and foot traffic to the centre of Pordenone, a city that will be the Italian Capital of Culture in 2027.
Amidst the chatter from the stalls, the stories hidden behind each object, and the joy of discovery, La Soffitta in Piazza is one of those city habits that make a Sunday stroll in the centre special.
The 2026 edition of the market features events spread throughout the year, on the last Sunday of each month (with a summer and December break), in Piazza Risorgimento and surrounding areas. The protagonists are private sellers' stalls with non-commercial used items, second-hand books, collectibles, and vintage curiosities.
Not held in July, August, and December. On each date: stalls from private individuals with used items, books, collectibles, coins, and vintage goods in Piazza Risorgimento and surrounding areas.
How to get there: Piazza Risorgimento is in the centre of Pordenone, within walking distance of the train station.
Admission: free.
When: last Sunday of the month, from March to November (excluding July, August, and December).
