The patron saint's festival in Palse, between muset and brovada, frico and flavours of the peasant tradition
In Palse, a hamlet of Porcia in the Pordenone area, November 11th is the most significant date of the year: it is the festival of Saint Martin, the community's patron saint. Around this anniversary, the Festa di San Martino comes to life, a three-day event that combines devotion, peasant tradition, and conviviality, organised by the association Palse in Festa.
The common thread of the festival is traditional cuisine, designed to rediscover the flavours of the past. On the table are the great classics of Friulian autumn: muset e brovada, fasioi con la seola, frico, radicio e fasioi, simple and tasty dishes that tell the gastronomic culture of the Friulian countryside and the link with the Saint Martin season, a time for pork and new wine.
In addition to good food, the programme offers music, entertainment, a market, games for children, and the traditional event of "se fa el porsel", the processing of pork according to peasant custom. All accompanied by religious celebrations in honour of the patron saint.
The result of the work of the volunteers of Palse in Festa, with the support of the Municipality of Porcia, the Festa di San Martino is an event deeply rooted in the community: a "tradition that is renewed", capable of bringing together faith, peasant memory, and the desire to be together in the heart of the Friulian autumn.
For 2026, the Festa di San Martino is renewed in Palse di Porcia, continuing the tradition that links the festival to the patron saint Saint Martin and November 11th. The three-day event is organised by Palse in Festa and offers traditional peasant cuisine, music, entertainment, a market, and games for children. The exact dates are published by the organisers in the weeks preceding the event.
The detailed programme for the 2026 edition will be announced by Palse in Festa. The established structure of the festival, spread over three days around November 11th, includes:
