The patronal feast and livestock exhibition of Frabosa Sottana
The Fera 'd San Giors is the historic patronal feast of Frabosa Sottana, a mountain municipality in the Monregalese area of the Cuneo province, in the heart of Piedmont. Dedicated to Saint George, the town's patron saint, the event traces its roots back to ancient valley livestock fairs. Since its revival in 2007, it has continued to grow, becoming one of the most cherished spring traditions in the Monregalese Valleys.
Organized by the Pro Loco of Frabosa Sottana in collaboration with the local municipality and regional associations, the fair transforms the village into a vibrant meeting point for farmers, artisans, producers, and visitors, offering a weekend that blends devotion, gastronomy, and mountain culture.
The heart of the Fera 'd San Giors is its livestock exhibition, which reaches its eighteenth edition in 2026. On the final Sunday, from the early hours of the morning, the village streets welcome over 150 animals, including cattle, horses, sheep, and goats, with awards presented to the best specimens in various categories. It serves as a vital showcase for local agricultural businesses and a living testament to the bond between Frabosa Sottana and mountain farming.
The fair is also a prime opportunity to savor local flavors. Among the most popular events is the grand polenta feast of San Giors at the GalaPalace, featuring mixed cold cuts, polenta with sausage sauce and cheese cream, Raschera PDO cheese, bunet, and hazelnut cake. Along the town center, visitors will find craft stalls and a market for local products, while the farmers' lunch celebrates traditional rural cuisine with appetizers, ravioli, roasts, and classic Piedmontese desserts.
The Fera 'd San Giors is much more than just a fair: it is the moment when Frabosa Sottana and the entire Monregalese region reconnect with their rural roots, welcoming visitors from across the province of Cuneo and the rest of Piedmont.
The 2026 Fera 'd San Giors brought Frabosa Sottana to life for over a week, from April 19 to 26. The opening on Sunday, April 19, featured the Saint George's Concert in the parish church, with organ and brass ensemble. On Thursday, April 23, the literary meeting "Narrating Mountains" was held with writer Daniele La Corte; Friday, April 24, saw the grand polenta feast of San Giors at the GalaPalace; Saturday, April 25, featured a pasta party with voluntary donations followed by a concert from a Queen tribute band. On the final Sunday, April 26, the eighteenth livestock exhibition took place with over 150 animals, Holy Mass, award ceremonies, the farmers' lunch, and a market of crafts and local products.
