About Fèra d'la Dula

The Fèra d'la Dula is a festival in Paroldo, a small village in the Alta Langa area of Cuneo province, celebrating the Langhe sheep and local pastoral culture. The name comes from the "dula," the ancient call used by shepherds to gather their sheep at pasture. For one day, the village comes alive with trekking through pastures, food and wine walks, markets, craft workshops, shearing and spinning demonstrations, entertainment for all ages, and the enticing aromas of local hill-country products.

The Fèra d'la Dula in Paroldo

In the heart of the Alta Langa, nestled among the hills of the Cuneo province, the small town of Paroldo dedicates an entire day to one of its most iconic traditions: the Fèra d'la Dula. The name derives from the "dula," the ancient call used by shepherds to gather their sheep and lead them to common grazing grounds. This Langarolo dialect term captures, in just two syllables, a whole world of flocks, ancient crafts, and village life.

A festival celebrating the Langhe sheep

The event revolves around the Langhe sheep and local produce. The beating heart of the day is the Ecomuseum of the Langhe Sheep in the Cavallini hamlet, which remains open throughout the festival. Here, visitors can discover the history of local pastoralism, traditional tools, and the deep bond between this community and its animals. Revived after a hiatus, the Fèra is now a highly anticipated event that weaves together nature, gastronomy, entertainment, and folk culture.

What to do during the day

  • "On the Trails of the Dula" Trekking — a walk through pastures and hills, accompanied by breakfast and local stories.
  • Food and wine walk through the village streets, with stops featuring local products and live music along the way.
  • Markets showcasing local producers and artisans, traditional games, and craft workshops.
  • Sheep shearing and wool spinning demonstrations, crafts that remain a living memory here.
  • Performances including theater, circus acts, and comedy designed for both families and adults.

An Alta Langa village to discover

Attending the Fèra d'la Dula is also an opportunity to explore Paroldo and the Alta Langa: landscapes of ridges, woods, and pastures stretching toward the Alps, paired with authentic gastronomy featuring sheep's milk cheeses, handmade pasta, and Piedmont hazelnuts. It is a day that combines the pleasures of the table, the slow rhythm of the countryside, and the warm hospitality of a Piedmontese community that proudly preserves its roots.

Fèra d'la Dula — edition 2026

The 2026 Fèra d'la Dula brought Paroldo to life on Sunday, May 31, with initiatives throughout the village, from the Ecomuseum of the Langhe Sheep in the Cavallini hamlet to the town streets.
