A day of nature, flavor, and tradition in the Alta Langa of Paroldo
In the heart of the Alta Langa, nestled among the hills of the Cuneo province, the small town of Paroldo dedicates an entire day to one of its most iconic traditions: the Fèra d'la Dula. The name derives from the "dula," the ancient call used by shepherds to gather their sheep and lead them to common grazing grounds. This Langarolo dialect term captures, in just two syllables, a whole world of flocks, ancient crafts, and village life.
The event revolves around the Langhe sheep and local produce. The beating heart of the day is the Ecomuseum of the Langhe Sheep in the Cavallini hamlet, which remains open throughout the festival. Here, visitors can discover the history of local pastoralism, traditional tools, and the deep bond between this community and its animals. Revived after a hiatus, the Fèra is now a highly anticipated event that weaves together nature, gastronomy, entertainment, and folk culture.
Attending the Fèra d'la Dula is also an opportunity to explore Paroldo and the Alta Langa: landscapes of ridges, woods, and pastures stretching toward the Alps, paired with authentic gastronomy featuring sheep's milk cheeses, handmade pasta, and Piedmont hazelnuts. It is a day that combines the pleasures of the table, the slow rhythm of the countryside, and the warm hospitality of a Piedmontese community that proudly preserves its roots.
The 2026 Fèra d'la Dula brought Paroldo to life on Sunday, May 31, with initiatives throughout the village, from the Ecomuseum of the Langhe Sheep in the Cavallini hamlet to the town streets. A day designed to weave together nature, flavor, entertainment, and folk culture, with the Langhe sheep as the absolute protagonist.
The festival confirmed its successful formula: morning trekking, a multi-stop food and wine walk, markets with producers and artisans, traditional games, children's workshops, shearing and spinning demonstrations, and live performances until the evening.
All day long: Ecomuseum of the Langhe Sheep open, producer markets, traditional games, shearing and spinning demonstrations, and music along the paths.
