The traditional pork feast organized by the Bricherasio Pro Loco
In the heart of winter, when the farmhouses of the Pinerolo area once celebrated the traditional pig slaughter, Bricherasio renews one of its most cherished customs: Ël Disnè Dël Crin, which literally translates to "the pork lunch" in Piedmontese. It is a convivial gathering that brings families, friends, and food lovers together around the same table to rediscover the authentic flavors of local peasant cooking.
The event takes place in the town of Bricherasio, a small center in the Province of Turin at the foot of the Pinerolo valleys, at the Pro Loco headquarters named after Severino Morero in Piazza Don Morero. The Bricherasio Pro Loco, in collaboration with the "Da Giulia" farm butcher shop on Strada Mussetto, organizes and manages the event every year, ensuring the quality of the meat and faithfulness to traditional recipes.
The heart of the Disnè dël Crin is its menu, built entirely around pork and traditional Piedmontese dishes. It starts with rustic cold cuts, followed by cotechino and mustardele with mashed potatoes, fricassà dël col (chicken neck fricassee) with semolina, loin steak with side dishes, a creamy soup, dessert, fruit, and finally coffee and digestifs. All accompanied by red and white wine. A hearty, honest meal designed to recreate the atmosphere of the grand banquets of the past.
Over the years, Ël Disnè Dël Crin has become a highly anticipated event, attracting a growing number of participants: from about eighty people in the early editions to nearly one hundred and eighty diners. This success testifies to the deep bond between Bricherasio and its rural roots, and the role of the Pro Loco in keeping the gastronomic memory of Piedmont alive.
Participation is by mandatory reservation, which must be made a few days before the event by contacting the Pro Loco. It is a genuine opportunity to immerse yourself in Piedmontese conviviality and enjoy dishes that tell the history of the territory.
