The patronal feast of Carignano, blending faith, tradition, and conviviality in late September.
The San Remigio Patronal Feast is the most anticipated event on the calendar in Carignano, a town in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont, overlooking the banks of the Po river. Saint Remigius of Reims is the co-patron of the city alongside Saint John the Baptist; the monumental 18th-century Duomo, a masterpiece by architect Benedetto Alfieri that dominates the historic center, is dedicated to both. The festival takes place every year on the last weekend of September and culminates on the Sunday dedicated to the saint.
The event, known as "September with San Remigio", intertwines the religious dimension with civil and social festivities. On one hand, there are solemn liturgical celebrations, with masses in the church of San Remigio and the city's Duomo, serving as a moment of reflection for the parish community; on the other, popular festivities organized by the Pro Loco Carignano, which bring the Via Monte di Pietà park to life for several days.
The social heart of the festival is the evening program curated by the Pro Loco. Recent editions have offered three days of festivities with a proven formula:
The San Remigio Patronal Feast represents one of the most deeply felt and well-attended events in Carignano: an occasion where devotion to the patron saint blends with a village festival, bringing together residents and visitors alike. The organization involves the Municipality, the parish, and local associations, confirming the event's deep roots in city life. It is also an opportunity to discover the historic center of Carignano and its Duomo, one of the most important examples of late Baroque architecture in Piedmont.
The 2026 edition of the San Remigio Patronal Feast is confirmed for the last weekend of September, according to the event calendar published by the Pro Loco Carignano in the spring of 2026. This year, the association has chosen to place the patron saint's feast back at the center, with the goal of relaunching its spirit through evenings, concerts, and a large food area set up in the Via Monte di Pietà park.
The detailed program — including times, dinner menus, and musical offerings — has not yet been published. As per tradition, the civil festivities will be accompanied by religious celebrations in the Duomo of Saints Giovanni Battista and Remigio. For information and reservations: Pro Loco Carignano, [email protected].
The civil festivities are held in the Via Monte di Pietà park, in Carignano (TO). Religious services take place in the Duomo of Saints Giovanni Battista and Remigio and in the church of San Remigio, in the historic center.
By car: Carignano can be reached via the SS20 del Colle di Tenda road, about 30 km south of Turin. By train: Carignano station on the Turin–Carmagnola–Cuneo line.
Dinners and lunches in the dining area are by reservation: contact the Pro Loco Carignano ([email protected], tel. +39 350 1377210). Entry to the festival area is free.
