Dining Under the Stars is the nocturnal food and wine walk that enlivens the hills of Vicoforte every summer, a small town in the province of Cuneo famous for its monumental Sanctuary, the basilica with the largest elliptical dome in the world. Organized by the Pro Loco Vicoforte, the event transforms a country path of about six kilometers into an open-air dining table, where walking and eating become a single convivial experience.

How it works

The principle is simple and brilliant: instead of sitting at a table, you are the one moving from one course to the next. Along the route that winds through the fields and woods of the Vicoforte hills, with a view of the Sanctuary, you will find seven refreshment points where you can taste as many dishes, each paired with typical local wines. It starts from the municipal sports facilities on Via al Santuario, with staggered departures throughout the evening to avoid crowds, and returns to the same point for the final party.

The flavors of the Cuneo tradition

The traveling menu tells the story of the cuisine of the Monregalese and Piedmont: it starts with an aperitif, continues with cold cuts and appetizers, then ravioli, a main course with a side dish, local cheeses accompanied by honey, desserts, and finally coffee with sugar cubes. Each dish is prepared by the restaurateurs and producers of Vicoforte, guaranteeing an authentically local supply chain.

Music, atmosphere, and final party

In addition to the food, the evening is punctuated by live music and entertainment distributed along the route, while the nocturnal nature of the hills offers evocative views to those walking with a flashlight in hand. Upon arrival, the walk concludes with a party with a DJ, and there is also the fun prize dedicated to the most original group, which encourages friends to show up in costume or with a theme.
