DeguStenico: walking and tasting through the villages of the Giudicarie

DeguStenico is a gourmet walking tour that takes place in the Municipality of Stenico, in the heart of the Giudicarie Esteriori, in the Province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). The concept is as simple as it is irresistible: a 9 km loop trail connects the local villages, and at every stop, you will find a taste of Trentino cuisine, accompanied by music, entertainment, and folk culture. The pace is slow and convivial, perfect for a pleasant day out for everyone.

A loop through five villages

The route touches five small settlements nestled in the Giudicarie landscape: Sclemo, Villa Banale, Premione, Stenico, and Seo, the highest village in the valley. The path follows dirt roads, paved sections, and village streets: it is an easy route, accessible even with a stroller, making the event perfect for families with children. Along the way, you can enjoy stunning views of the Brenta Dolomites, the castle of Stenico, and the meadows and forests surrounding the nearby Terme di Comano.

A taste at every stop

The beauty of DeguStenico is that the menu is discovered step by step. Recent editions have featured a breakfast start with barley coffee, local yogurt, and bread with alpine butter, followed by aperitifs, traditional appetizers like tortel di patate with speck and local salami, warm main courses, desserts accompanied by choral singing, afternoon snacks with alpine cheeses, and a final dish. Entertainment is always present: traditional music, falconry, demonstrations of ancient crafts, and activities for children mark the stops between one village and the next.

A community festival by the Pro Loco

The event is organized by the Pro Loco of Stenico, with the support of the local community and the promotion of the APT Terme di Comano - Dolomiti di Brenta. More than just a food event, DeguStenico is a community celebration: volunteers and residents of the hamlets welcome walkers at every stop, turning a June day into a collective story of Trentino lifestyle.

When it takes place

DeguStenico traditionally takes place on the first Sunday of June. The number of participants is limited to ensure everyone has time to savor each stop at a leisurely pace. Comfortable, sporty clothing and a backpack with personal essentials are recommended.
