About Milk Festival

The Milk Festival is an autumn event celebrating the farming and dairy heritage of Fiavè, located in the Giudicarie Esteriori area of Trentino. Organized by the local Pro Loco as part of the Garda Trentino 'Month of Taste', the festival showcases the world of mountain dairies and livestock farming through cheese tastings, a farmers' market, cheesemaking demonstrations, nature walks in the local biotopes, and family workshops. A weekend dedicated to discovering the flavors and rural traditions of the Fiavè plateau.

The Fiavè Milk Festival

The Milk Festival is one of the most authentic gastronomic events in the Garda Trentino region. Held in Fiavè, on the plateau of the Giudicarie Esteriori in the Comano Valley, it celebrates the deep-rooted bond between this land and its dairy culture. The municipality of Fiavè, in the province of Trento and the Trentino-Alto Adige region, has always been a land of mountain pastures and livestock farming: the festival was created to share the story of milk and its derivatives, from the stable to the table.

A 'Month of Taste' Event

The Milk Festival is part of the Month of Taste, an autumn series promoted by the Garda Trentino Tourism Board. Between late September and early November, it brings together festivals, tastings, and experiences dedicated to local, seasonal products. Within this calendar, the Fiavè event is entirely dedicated to milk and cheese, featuring collaborations with local farms, restaurants, and cultural sites.

Tastings, Markets, and Traditions

The program blends taste, nature, and culture. Highlights of the event include:

  • Guided tastings of local cheeses, honey, and wines;
  • Farmers' market featuring local producers and artisans;
  • Cheesemaking demonstrations and workshops focused on dairy processing;
  • Farmers' lunch featuring traditional polenta and mountain dairy products;
  • Live music, entertainment, and activities for children.

Nature and Archaeology

One of the event's strengths is its setting. Fiavè is famous for its biotope, a protected wetland area crossed by easy nature trails, and above all for the Pile Dwelling Museum, which preserves evidence of one of the most significant prehistoric pile-dwelling settlements in the Alps, recognized by UNESCO. During the festival, the museum offers family activities, bridging the gap between prehistoric history and today's rural traditions.

A Weekend of Flavors and Community

The Milk Festival is more than just a food fair: it is an opportunity to experience the Fiavè community, meet farmers and cheesemakers, savor the genuine products of the plateau, and understand the value of a mountain economy that relies on milk as one of its most precious resources. An event designed for families, curious visitors, and enthusiasts of Trentino food and wine.

The event, traditionally scheduled in October as part of the Garda Trentino 'Month of Taste', is expected to feature dairy tastings, a farmers' market, and activities dedicated to the rural traditions of the plateau.

The calendar for the 2026 edition of the Milk Festival in Fiavè has not yet been published. Based on previous years, the event usually takes place in October, as part of the Garda Trentino Month of Taste.
