The convivial dinner hosted by the Pro Loco of Caselle Torinese
In Caselle Torinese, just outside the Piedmontese capital in the Province of Turin, a classic dish from the Lazio region draws hundreds of people every February: Claudio Nardocci's amatriciana. What started almost as a joke has become one of the town's most beloved gastronomic events, carefully organized by the Pro Loco of Caselle Torinese.
It all began in December 2016, during the UNPLI national assembly in Rome. The president of the Caselle Pro Loco, Gianpiero Barra, jokingly invited Claudio Nardocci—former national president of UNPLI and a well-known culinary enthusiast—to come and cook the famous Lazio dish in Piedmont. No sooner said than done: the first edition in 2017 hosted only a few dozen people, but the formula immediately won over the locals. Over the years, the dinner has grown to exceed 200 bookings, leading the Pro Loco to split the event into two sessions to accommodate everyone.
Nardocci led the national association of Italian Pro Loco for several terms and is currently the president of the Pro Loco of Ladispoli. His passion for cooking is now legendary: every year, he personally prepares the amatriciana following the traditional Lazio recipe, assisted by sous-chef Marco Porro, with passion, experience, and authentic flavors.
What makes this event special is not just the food, but the atmosphere: an evening and a lunch dedicated to conviviality, where the Caselle community gathers around the table. It takes place in the "Silvio Passera" Association House Banquet Hall, on Via Madre Teresa di Calcutta, the heart of the town's social life. An event that blends the gastronomic tradition of Lazio with the welcoming spirit of Piedmont.
Two sessions were held in 2026, both at the "Silvio Passera" Association House Banquet Hall in Caselle Torinese: the dinner on Saturday, February 7 at 8:00 PM and the lunch on Sunday, February 8 at 1:00 PM. The menu, priced at 25 euros per person, included three appetizers, the famous amatriciana, a selection of cheeses, dessert, and the traditional Carnival bugie (fried pastries). Reservations, with limited seating and prepayment, were collected at the Pro Loco office from January 29 to February 5.
